Great Responsive Yo-Yo for Beginners and Pros Alike
The Yoyo King Green Merlin is an awesome responsive yo-yo that offers smooth, reliable play right out of the box. The narrow C bearing gives it just the right amount of spin time and responsiveness, making it easy to learn new tricks but still satisfying for more experienced throwers. The bright green color looks fantastic and stands out during play. I also appreciate the extra string included — a nice bonus since strings wear out. Whether you’re just starting or want a solid everyday yo-yo, this one’s a winner.

Great product
This is a nice yo-yo for the price. I like the butterfly design. I highly recommend this brand.

Great little throw
When first getting it, there wasn't much that I knew about it. I have a few yoyo kings, but nothing impressed me except the double agent so far and that's irrelevant as that's a metal unresponsive yoyo. So what did I get? Well first it is made from a glossy plastic. The photos make it look like a soft plastic, but no. Thos materiel is hard and shiny. In the hand, it first feels like a flimsy, cheap, yoyo for a 7 year old, but no. It performs really well. It even loops more friendly than my similar shaped yoyos. I honestly thought this would be a shelf yoyo and I got one to put in my throw rotation. Well met yoyo king!!! Well met!

pretty nice yo-yo
I am a 42 year old child that loves yo-yo's. I am not a pro more like a life long beginner to intermediate yo-yo'er at best. I do the basics like round the world, rock the cradle, and man on the flying trapeze. This Yo-Yo King MERLIN is pretty nice for my skill level it has a decent weight to get a good sleep and responds well without being overly responsive and without breaking your hand when it returns. It also has a good shape that fits well in my hand and is easy to land on the string. It feels pretty sturdy and well made with a good balance "does not vibrate" while sleeping. Put a drop of good yo-yo thin lube on the bearing and it will sleep for days! I have many yo-yo's "Duncan's, Yomega's, Magic Yo's" of all models and I like like them all but I think this Yo-Yo King MERLIN will be my carry around every day yo-yo and for $10 its a steal for a nice bearing yo-yo.... Great product and will buy again...

Excellent yo-yo, Recommended for beginner transitioning to intermediate.
This is a great yoyo. If you're a beginner moving into an intermediate skill level, this is probably one of the best yoyo's you can buy. The construction is top notch. The plastic is very durable and has a lot of weight to it. I've hit it on the ground over a dozen times and it barely has a scratch. It's very balanced and spin times are excellent. If I throw a strong sleeper it spins for well over a minute. What's great about this yoyo is it's almost custom tailored to make the transition from beginner to intermediate skill level. It is responsive so beginners will be able to pick it up and throw it into a sleeper and still have it return to them with a simple tug. Even though it's responsive though, you can still do a lot of string tricks especially the ones you start learning at the intermediate level. I have no problem doing man on the flying trapeeze, split the atom, and double or nothing. I recommend this yoyo to anyone that wants to learn how to do string tricks but isn't ready to do binds yet. It does return to your hand with a simple tug, has long sleep times, doesn't get tied up if you land the yoyo on the string a few times, and allows you to do intermediate tricks. For it's price point and target audience this is one of the best you can buy.

Its fine.
It is ok. Spins a decent length of time. There was a knot 1/2 way down the string. Construction seems cheap. Pretty quiet. Value enough for $9. Next time i’d spend the extra $5 and get a x brain.

Love my MERLIN YO-YO!
I've been looking for a higher quality yo-yo than I've had in the past. When I was younger (8-16) the Duncan Imperial was the standard "better" quality yo-yo. I don't recall even seeing other brands available at the toy store. Now I'm 65 and retired. Although I still have a couple of Duncan yo-yo's from the late 50's to early 60's (which are cool to have the authentic ones) a few months back I found them packed away with things from my past. I put new string on it and tried a few throws had relearn how to throw it. I've been practicing the basic throws and tricks steadily improving (I know,,,I'm old but it's still fun trying) on technique. My Duncan felt light, difficult for me to catch and didn't spin long so I researched higher quality yo-yo's and was surprised bearings, adjustable shafts, materials, etc... ???? I wanted a HIGH QUALITY YO-YO but didn't want to pay pay a high price. I read reviews on many and noticed the MERLIN was consistently highly rated so I purchased two. The MERLIN far surpasses any yo-yo I've ever tried. It fits my hand well, perfect weight, spins long and fast and is easy to catch. I love it! I'm the best 65 year old yo-yo'er in town. ???????????? Additionally, THE YO-YO KING has been a real pleasure to purchase from. I think, Lar's, founder of THE YO-YO KING, has built a business selling quality products at a reasonable price and outstanding CUSTOMER SERVICE. I highly recommend THE YO-YO KING for quality, value and fulfilling my order in a timely fashion. Thanks Lar's!

Pretty Solid Overall
At first I was a little disappointed when got it. I had been using a beginner YoYo and it was much more responsive. But because this one is less responsive I can do more tricks. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I’m quite happy with it now that I know how to use it.

Okay beginner throw with progression ceiling.
Cost slightly more than the Duncan Butterfly XT with the pros of having a better response system. But I wouldn't say it's for much play unless you modify it with an unresponsive bearing; that said, the Merlin tilts a little too easily for intermediate tricks and it's hard to break out of beginner's play to progress forward. Do not get me wrong, it's a well-made beginner's yoyo for sure. But just didn't meet my expectations on it. I would recommend Magicyoyo's K1 (also beginner yoyo) over this for better performance, plus it has a cheaper price point. Or, just skip all the nonsense and get the replay pro. That is one heluva beginner’s yo-yo. Another thing that I am not sure about is the Merlin's production versions. Some images shown to me by Amazon in various UI process has a version of the yoyo's both faces within a thick frame while some versions have thin frames with the black logo within. I'm not sure if these 2 versions have different performances. I got the thin framed one.
