Diorama-style airport layout to display 1/400 static model planes. Adding more variability, and possibly more planes to be displayed, planes can be parked awaiting their next flight, taxiing to/from the runway, or just landed or about to take off. REALISTIC AIRPORT PARAMETERS The airport depicted is likely larger (probably Bravo or Charlie) and commercial. It has one runway (Runway Three Three), one taxiway, and eight airplane parking stalls. Runway Three Three is oriented almost full north, and may also be Runway One Five in the other direction. The airport is 1/400 scale, and described as realistically displaying twelve 1/500 to 1/400 scale airplanes. Planes of this scale will look fine, and you can probably display 1-2 more planes if they are smaller (e.g. 727 or commuter aircraft). The airplane in my pictures is a 1/400 Scale Antonov AN-225 Military Cargo Plane, has been repurposed by Ukraine as a commercial airliner, and is probably one of the world's largest airplanes nose-to-tail. In this 1/400 scale, it is the largest plane you will have on this airport mat. FULL MAT LAYOUT The full airport layout is rectangular (approx. 33" tall & 47" wide), consisting of six smaller panels (approx. 16.5" tall & 15.5" wide). The six panels are all permanently attached via the display picture or back panel on one or two edges. While six all panels are interconnected/attached, the four top 'picture' panels come together to create the final, full airport layout. The panels are thick, and quality is high, so it always appears that there is just one panel, not 4-6 put together. FIVE ADDITIONAL DISPLAY SIZE OPTIONS In addition to the completely unfolded, full six panel layout, the mat seamlessly supports three smaller sizes. You can display three panels horizontally as a 47" wide by 15.5" linear display. This could be either the top three (picture #2) or bottom three (picture #3). Two panels on the far left can be displayed vertically or horizontally (33" wide x 16.5" tall in picture #4) for a display just one third the size. Lastly, those same two panels can be folded, resulting in two possible one panel displays (pictures #5 or #6). Out of the box, the three sizes described fully support themselves. The four right panels can display a desirable squarish 30" wide by 33" tall size (picture #7), but this 4-panel version does not fully support itself, as one half is less thick and only hangs by the edge border. Laying a support board (not included) under one half will result in a fully supported quad version. SUMMARY Nicely detailed, ideal display for 1/500 - 1/400 commercial or military planes. The three smaller sizes possible are just as useful, and allow the perfect setup for your particular space.
