Great kit, incredibly good instructions
Le produit multimédia n'a pas pu être chargé. So, let me preface this review by saying that the instructions for this kit were exceptional. Hands down the best I've seen. The manual goes into great detail about the instructions themselves, almost every step that could be confusing had a second view, and every step that needed a separate callout had one. The packaging says ages 8+ and despite the complexity of the build, I think that's accurate. It may take a few tries to put the rubberbands exactly where they're supposed to go or deal with a rubberband hooked around one part but not the other for a step or three, but even where and how you're supposed to route these non-brick parts is clearly spelled out. In the box you get the bricks themselves plus two separate bags of rubber bands and springs - they include a spare for each one you need, which is great forethought. You'll also get a bonus 98 piece butterfly knife kit, 2 foldable parts containers, and of course, instructions and stickers for the main build. The quality was good; no warped parts, nothing too loose or too tight, color looks good and vitally nothing missing - rather you'll have a good number of spares left over. The build took about 4 hours, but I had the TV on and was not working at my best, one could probably get it done in 3 if they focused. The end result is solid, both the gun and the knife, and they work - to the extent that you can expect a brick gun and knife to work. The gun has a novel, removable clip, the gun slide needs to be drawn back and cocked, where it makes a satisfying click, and though the grip and trigger are perhaps a bit small for a full sized adult ...well, sometimes it fires. Not every time. It's sort of hit or miss, no pun intended. When it does fire, sometimes the piece just barely makes it out of the end of the barrel, and sometimes it goes spinning off at a high, sibling-injuring speed, perhaps not to be found any time soon, but luckily you get multiples. I believe that if you expertly repositioned the parts, especially the trigger assembly and the areas that interact with the top of the clip, get the exact right tension on the rubber bands, you could have a pretty reliable experience, but it can't last. It's just building blocks after all. Looks and feels good anyway, so I wasn't that worried about it. The stand that comes with is a nice touch! The butterfly knife is similar to the gun in build quality and usage, It's barely bigger than the real thing, and if you're gentle and slow, it flips open and closed like you'd hope; though the latch to keep it shut is a little finicky. Still, it looks good and holds up pretty well for a few flips before you need to tighten it up again.

This was a fun build, both knife and gun. Oddly enough, I had to have this shipped to Geand Junction Colorado. and then again shipped to my house here in NW Arkansas. Kid you not, I can walk into the pharmacy in Lowel Arkansas and purchase an actual assault weapon, they have them displayed above the stocked shelves. but in order to obtain this toy building block gun and knife set, I had to go through top secret back channels, as if ithese qualify as actual weapons. Why four stars? The gun fires inconsistent and inaccurate. I expected it to be dangerous considering I couldn't get it shipped directly to my house. The simple fact that it was nearly unobtainable made me want it even more. Like really bad. And, I'm not into guns. I figured if it was a banned item in the good old boy state of Arkansas, it was for good reason. Nope. The hassle of obtaining it played up part in this review, nor did the added expense of shipping it. The price wasn't factored in the review either. These are fun builds though I think in order to get any consistency and accuracy, it would require more than generic rubber bands. As well, being that the general idea is that these are supposed to be somewhat functional albeit not consistent or accurate, they really need some technic type fasteners. They need to hold together well.

How to review... how to review...
So basically every review of every fake lego kit I've written of... these kinds of things... have been flagged for violating Amazon's review policies. Which leaves me in the position of just how to review these... let's call them "gnus." Okay, how is this fake lego gnu? Well, it's about what you would expect. If you need a fake gnu that really... launches... projectiles.. across the room, this is for you. No orange safety cap, so, you know, wave it around in the dark at your peril. Otherwise, it's a nice little kit, if of questionable necessity.

Great gift idea...
This kit is a great gift idea for your loved one! I like that each packet for the gun set is boldly numbered to make following the completion instructions easier. While you can tell that the gun is made of blocks, it still looks very nice for display. The knife kit is in a separate baggie, and I love that it was keep away from the gun pieces which made building them both easier. They also included two display boxes, which I didn't photograph, but they are easy to put together and work well.

Really nicely made model set with great instruction quality, but missing the knife
The Desert Eagle model is really well-done, and the bricks and instructions are of high quality (in fact, the instruction booklet is much nicer than any LEGO brand manual I've seen). However, mine arrived without the butterfly knife companion-set, which was a minor letdown. Still, the main set is pretty awesome.
