Until recently I've used Hornby surface mounted points and it's been fine. However with newer carriages, they have more detail and this can get caught in certain internal curves on the points. These alleviate this problem and are simple to fit. I use with Hornby point decoders. I have noticed a motor or two swapping polarity after initial set up, which needed the wires swapping. After that no problems.

A great little point motor. Fits neatly under the baseboard and leaves the track points neat and tidy, just like the real thing!
