The best kit I’ve done.
Sturdy pieces, good directions. All pieces went together easily. Fabulous detail. I loved the book covers and especially liked that pieces were assembled from one puzzle board at a time. This was so much nicer than flipping through a dozen boards looking for the right piece. I wish this company made others.

Decent materials, annoying instructions
This kit has most of the pieces on pressboard sheets, which you must punch out as you assemble and not all at once. Each piece has correlating numbers next to them on the sheet that must be referenced with the instructions. I haven't assembled this kit because it's a gift, but it has the basic process of hooking the pieces together at notch points. The coloring and imagery are already painted on, so there's no cutting and pasting. There are a couple sticker sheets for the many books. For height reference, the statue that sits on the second floor measures 2.8 inches tall and is made of resin. I'm not crazy about the instruction guide. It's printed on nice paper and has good diagrams, but there's no color at all. It's black lines on white backgrounds with some grey shading. At certain places, there's blue, but it's sporadic, so I don't really understand why it's there. The kit assembles in 84 steps and I'd say is best suited for ages 12 and over. Included are glue, tweezers, and a sanding board, but you must provide the 2 AAA batteries for the lighting.

Highly detailed intermediate to advanced level kit
The Monastery Library is a highly detailed Book Nook. Even the tiny little statue provided has great detail up close. The boards are thicker than in most kits and there are a lot of them. There are 16 boards in total and 2 sticker sheets with the details for making many tiny books. Stickers make this task go faster, but it's not my favorite part of these kits. I either get then all done and organized at the start or I do them in small batches as needed. (I'll be honest, I recently found out that batches of pre made scale books can be purchased pre-made and I'm considering investing in them if I can find the correct scale and use those in these kits so I can focus on the things I like to do. ) This is a Library theme Book Nook so not having to make a bunch of books would be strange. The details and quality of the printing on the boards is excellent. The thickness of the wood is great for a sturdy kit that will hold up, but at times it can make getting the pieces to join a challenge unless you have a small rubber craft mallet to help. Due to the nature of the composite wood used to make these kits the boards can swell a bit when the weather is very humid resulting in difficulty getting the tabs and slots to come together easily. I haven't started on this kit yet so I'll have to wait to see how that turns out. The kit does have a very strong chemical odor as soon as I opened the box. It is currently down in my basement gassing off and I'll start it as soon as the smell is tolerable or gone. This used to be a common problem with these kits. The smell does go away if you leave them open in a well ventilated place for a while. The kit comes with Tweezers, a small tube of white glue, a file (aka frosted rod), and clear tapes. I like to have some Aleene's Tacky Glue 3 in 1 on hand in case. I break a piece, and I usually use glue instead of the sticky sheets as long as glue will not interfere with the function of a part inn the finished kit. A small craft knife will likely also come in handy given the thickness of the boards in order to help with release of parts. As with all these kits batteries are needed for the lighting. I love the way the lighting is set up for this kit. It becomes part of the details as well as illuminating the miniature scene of the finished kit. The front of the finished Book Nook opens on a hinge and serves as a detail and as a dust cover. The difficulty rating of this kit is 4/5 . After looking through the instruction manual I'd place this at an intermediate level build. The wiring for the lights looks fairly complicated to place properly at a glance so take your time, follow the instructions, and have patience. This is my first Book Nook from SainSmart Jr and I'm looking forward to getting to work on it. I've done over 100 of these kits and after looking everything over and reading through the instructions I think I can give this a 5/5 stars. It's a great value for a quality and detailed Book Nook kit. I decided not to take a star off for the odor. However I do hope that if they make more of these kits that they do something about that. Recommendation or Intermediate or Advanced miniatures experience. If you are a beginner and this would be your first or second kit know that this one will take generally 12 -16 hours hands on, and requires a lot of patience.

Sainsmart is showing some improvement
This is the second time that I have done a Sainsmart kit, the first one being the Burger Truck kit which was a smaller design. From the Burger Truck to this one, I think I like their booknooks more. This one was so much more sturdy build, and came with at least a tweezer and some glue. I was actually impressed by the improvement in quality over the Burger Truck. The pieces were thicker, and they even included some prop items (I loved the statue!). This was an easy and straightforward build and it looks amazing put together. If you don’t have a library booknook yet then this one would be nice to have.

Book Nook Kit
The build quality of this kit is simply amazing. The material is a lot more substantial than I expected. The instructions for assembly are very straight forward considering how complex the kit is. My 6 year old daughter loves working on it with me. I feel the age recommendation is appropriate at 14 years old. My only compliant was I had trouble with the included glue but this was easily replaced with any school glue. I haven't tried it yet but I think a glue stick would work perfectly with the pieces of the kit.

Best alternative to a puzzle.
I love this so much. I have found that I get bored of regular puzzles lately due to adhd and was excited when I saw this. Especially that it is wooden. At first I thought it would be quick and very simple but it has taken longer than I expected. It’s not hard at all but will keep me busy for a couple weeks at least. It is something that needs to have a spot where no one will lose the pieces. I really like that when I am done it has the light kit. I am going to put it on my shelf in my reading room. The colors are really nice and the photos are clear. The pieces unattached without much hassle. You do need some glue as I a few pieces need to be glued down. I did not see this in the package. It would make a great gift to puzzle lovers or hobby builders. If I can get this one finished I am excited to do the magic one.

Thewse are so much fun
Haven't had time to put this together but I did open the box and everything looks like nice quality. I really enjoy putting these types of things together and we have several bookshelves that this will be a great addition to. I'm excited for some down time to be able start putting this together!

Fun To Assemble and Beautiful
This is a fun-to-assemble, high resolution, and beautiful book nook. I had a great time putting it together and it required less DIY skill than many glue/paint/fabricate sets. The pieces are well cut and high resolution printed and the result is a beautiful display piece.
