You can make fantastic thunder storm noises with this great sound tool.
As someone who is into all kinds of percussion musical instruments and sounds (Hand Drums, Standard drums, Taiko drums, Maracas, and numerous others) when I saw this item (Remo SP-0207-TL Spring Drum thunder Tube) on Amazon for a bargain price I decided to purchase it. I was impressed with the great delivery service receiving it in only one day after ordering it. I never had this particular kind of sound device in the past and I have to say I loved playing this thunder and storm sounds with this thunder tube. The spring tube can be made to sound like a creaking door, and the level and tone can also be manipulated with this sound device. If you like an unusual and fun sound playing device you may want to check out this Remo Spring Drum Thunder Tube. I love it. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Unique noisy toy
This is basically a heavyweight cardboard tube with a long metal spring attached to the bottom. When you shake the tube, the sound is amplifies and resonates, making booming "thunder" sounds. A range of other sounds can also be created by running fingers along the spring. It is a simple invention, but strangely addictive - people young and old like to pick it up and play with it. It is also surprisingly durable. I've had one for over 10 years, and it is still in great shape. In that time, it has been a classroom staple, gone to adult trainings and business meetings, been featured in a couple of elementary school plays, been loaned out for a "haunted house" fundraiser, and is often played with by kids at home. I bought the thing on a whim to get kids' attention in the classroom (MUCH cooler than a bell or whistle!) but have been surprised by all of the other uses that we've found for it. I recently purchased the tie-dye version as a unique gift for an eleven-year-old girl. It will fill a basket with a tin of "thinking putty", a set of "jelly marbles" and a few other fun science toys. I must say, it is great for the person who has everything, especially if that person likes to make noise!

GREAT IDEA
I gave this product a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating based on the reaction of our 4 yr old grandson. He isn't fond of thunderstorms, we thought we'd order the Thunder Tube, discuss the scientific aspects of storms and help him grow past his concerns. His first comment, "Mimi, that doesn't sound like real thunder". I understand it could have been the way I was handling the tube but we've had several other friends give it a try and they all agree, if you use your imagination, it could sound like thunder. However, the tube is built very well. It will provide some great sound effects, just wasn't what we needed at the moment. I would still recommend as the adults had a great time playing with it.

Very interesting noise maker.
The media could not be loaded. While it does not sound exactly like thunder (which I knew before buying and I'm not complaining), it does have quite an impressive and unique thunderous hum to it which is why I bought it. It does sound really cool! The larger thunder tube has a more realistic thunder sound to it which I will get as well later. On another note, as well as being well made, it seems to be made ok but I wouldn't be too rough with it or shake the living heck out it for long periods of time as it may not handle it very long before it breaks. It actually does not require a hard shake to get good noise out of it anyway. Just a gentle shake does it! Have fun!

Fun good souding
So much fun. My boy ran around with it all weekend at a music festival and it came back in good shape yet. Durable noise maker!

I don't think I've ever written a review before but here goes a good one. First of all
Ok Amazon....I don't think I've ever written a review before but here goes a good one. First of all, I am a percussionist and have taught band in the public schools for 25 years. I have drum corps experience with the Colt's and the Cavaliers and I have years of performing experience with two orchestras. As I shopped around for this novelty item I was very hesitant to purchase. It looks cheap, and the dimensions led me to believe the sound quality would be pretty dismal. Upon opening my amazon box and seeing the product's box I was actually laughing to my coworker about how we just wasted $12. We opened the first one and the looks on our faces were of shock and awe. We opened the other two and began playing with them and laughing at ourselves for being so cynical. The truth is this: they sound good, they are unique, they are louder than I thought they would be, they have a much better quality of sound than I thought. We are surprised and you will be too. Cant get hurt on the price either. Aaron Seel

Lots of cool sounds are available
After watching a couple of thunder tube videos to see exactly what this was all about, I decided "why not?" and bought one. Realistically until everybody starts writing for thunder tube in concert band scores, you're not going to be buying one of these for any other reason. Lots of cool sounds are available, especially when you wa-wa the hole with your hand like on a kalimba. If you don't know how to hold it correctly to make the sounds most effectively, just look up a video about it. The trick is to rotate it side to side with your wrist to make all the motion rather than waving it around with your arm. Idly making sounds on mine as made me want to buy the REMO Thunder Tube, 6" Diameter, 6" Length, 'Stormy' Graphics bigger one, but at almost $30 it's less justifiable as a completely useless "why not?" purchase. I feel like you could make your own in any size you want (but especially bigger sizes) for a lot less money. It's not complicated. Still, this one is closer to the right price and I'm pleased with my purchase.

Sounds bad
The quality is great and at this price it's good but the sound is not that great. It's kind of metallic and not thunder like.
