Loomies Food Figures Loved by Both 6 and 8 Year Olds
My 8 year old discovered Rainbow Loom this past summer through camp. Mostly making friendship bracelets. Then I discovered Loomie figurines, and the characters are exactly the same foodies my girls draw and love. Once ordered, they came the next day. Make sure to check thoroughly, one of the figurines was missing from the set. Anyways, my 8 year old went right for it, and it only took a few minutes for my 6 year old (first grader) to start making her own little loom ropes. Technically 2 Boxes, with the 6 characters split as: Box 1: 4 character kits, and 2 sets of tools - Tuesday the Taco, Frenchy the French Fries, Marry-Nara the Pizza, Hammy the Hamburger Box 2: 2 character kits, and 1 set of tools - Ava the Avocado, and Sasha the Sushi Each character kit is individually packaged with: - Instruction booklet - Plastic figurine - Rubber bands separated by color - Interchangeable facial expressions and accessories to customize each character. Each set of tool comes with the "speed looms" to create the loom "bracelet", which is a rubber rope that can fill the character figurines. My kids prefer using the plastic needle over the forked 2 needle contraption. Been sticking with the Rainbow Loom brand since the rubber bands are thick, soft, and free from phthalates, lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury & arsenic. Priced $20 at time of order and review, so comes out $3.33 for each figurine. I'd imagine it'd be a fun craft at a birthday party. Even with 6 figurines, it'd only work for 3 kids, since the set only comes with the 3 sets of tools. If split for 3 kids, (1 set of tools, and 2 Loomies), it'll be $6.67 craft set for each kid. Great Activity!
These Loomies are adorable! My daughter & I decided to try these out for an afternoon activity together, that’s not on an electronic device. She’s almost 7, to the age where she’s wanting to do more arts & crafts projects etc. I thought this would be fun for us to try together. My little one loved “Ava”, the avocado, so that’s the one we busted out first. My kiddo enjoyed the fact that the product had a QR code that you could scan to pull video instructions on how to begin your process. I also felt the the video was helpful, especially for younger kids instead of trying to read it all out. *This is not a super quick activity!* It took a while to get the flow going with the loomie tools/figuring the process out. Once I knew what I was doing, I found the flow, then it was much faster! This turned into mom making the loomie chains with the rubber bands, then my daughter helping sort rubber bands, as well as, decorate her cute avocado lol. I feel once she’s a little older she might like creating chain portion, just took too long for her right now. However, she did love it! She said she had fun making the characters & they are super cute. Some of my favorite things about this are: The directions have the number of rubber bands that it takes for each section. This is super helpful! I tried one by counting the rubber bands, one by using the chain length guide in the instructions. I thought it was easier counting them out to get a better measurement. I also liked that you can reuse the accessory pieces to make different faces etc that you can interchange between the characters. My daughter wanted the avocado to be a mommy

My daughter loves these!
I got these to do as an activity for both my 8 yo son and 6 yo daughter. There is a bit of a learning curve if you've never done one of these before and we had not. My son gave up in the first few minutes claiming "it's too hard!" However, my daughter and I stuck with it and ended up getting the hang of it pretty quick. I had to demonstrate the steps a number of times, but she was doing everything by herself by the end, except for finishing the chain. Our results are in the picture. She wants to do more, so the next time I bet she can pick up on the final steps of finishing the chain herself. Overall, a very good product. The colors are bright and the packaging is done well. Each Loomie comes packaged in it's own bag with instructions. Plenty of extra bands and accessories for each Loomie. There is also a demonstration video available by scanning the QR code on the outer packaging or the instruction sheets, but we did not need to do that. Be careful not to make the chains too long, it can be difficult to push them in all the way where they go. And then it will make it harder to put the accessories on. I'm still trying to get my son on board, but huge stamp of approval from my daughter. She can't wait to do the rest!
