Reliable and High Quality Sharpner
I purchased this sharpener upon a recommendation by another Amazon reviewer who used this sharpener especially for Prismacolor Pencils. I have had very good success with the sharpener and use it on average to sharpen/resharpen approx. 40-50 pencils per work period. I've had this sharpener for about three weeks' worth of two-four hour work periods and it's still very sharp! I have tried traditional stationary office-type metal Sharpeners, battery-operated Sharpeners, Dollar Tree school sharpeners and gone through three electric sharpeners, as well as artist-grade sharpeners that resemble this one. None of them were very good. The electric broke down rather quickly. Personally, from this point forward, I'm keeping a stock of Pro Art Soft Sharpeners rather than keep trying other brands that either ruin my pencil or don't sharpen well or break. Thanks to a fellow Amazon Reviewer, I finally have a reliable, high-quality pencil sharpener!

Why so fussy about pencil sharpeners? For certain pencils, it's critical
I have used soft lead colored pencils (like Prismacolor) for illustration for 40 years. In that time, I have cursed the pencils whose lead seems to break every time I sharpen them. I learned that sharpeners have different angles in their blades, and am always looking for one that works well with the soft lead. This one does. Buy it. Maybe buy two. They're not that expensive (and I had to pay shipping), but it is a pleasure to sharpen my pencils now without routine breakage. Don't be surprised when the envelope comes in the mail. It's a little, dinky thing, but it works well.

Yes. Works well, but it's definitely overpriced and VERY small, therefore easy to lose, which is the reason for the 4 stars.????

Perfect sharpener
This sharpener lives up to it's expectations. Most sharpeners break the end of the pencil. This one is perfect.

Almost perfect
This amazingly well crafted, sharp pencil sharpener is the key to any child's heart who loves pencils. I've tried all kinds of various sharpeners, which always break the lead when they get sharp (or the lead straight falls out if it's a colored pencil). This one works beautifully - pencils get so sharp I'm a little concerned about safety! The only drawback is that you have to sharpen over the trash or a shavings receptacle of some kind. Other than that, 100% WORTH IT!

Item I received was made in China with missing cleaning stick
Item was not as shown in image. I ordered the soft lead sharpener. It was supposed to be made in Germany with a cleaning stick included. The one I received was made in China and did not include a cleaning stick.

It works fine but doesn’t have a reservoir to collect the shavings. Wish I had noticed that.

Good sharpener, but requires modification for charcoal
It is a good sharpener, but it includes a piece of metal that makes it impossible to sharpen charcoal pencils. I unscrewed the blade, easily removed this metal piece, returned the blade, and it worked very well. It would be helpful if the manufacturer could add a comment about this.

Artists friend.
A good hand held sharpener is difficult to f find, because of breaking leads and different types of leads I.e. carbon and pastel. This sharpener fits the bill perfectly.. A really good buy.

Funciona como se esperaba
Funciona como se esperaba se recomienda aun así ver algún video de uso para que no tengan complicaciones si es la primera vez pero su mecanismo es sencillo aun asi
