Excellent book for technical improvement and sight reading practice.
I am in the process of re-learning the piano after over a decade of not playing. At the tender age of twenty-nine I finally have access to a piano again and am loving getting back to it. I never did the grades or learned formally when I was younger, I simply learned to play the songs I liked. This time I'm learning formally and will be doing all the grades. This book is excellent for improving your sight reading (which is very important). It starts with short and easy pieces and progresses to harder ones, however each and every piece also comes with a kind of key which encourages you to note the important aspects of the piece you're about to play (such as key, number of beats in a bar, ties, and any new concepts being shown in the book for the first time). I do find the pieces themselves very easy to play, but that is because my sight reading is already quite good. I find the book extremely useful though for teaching me the various technical aspects of the pieces, and getting me in the habit of checking all of these before I start playing, all of which is essential when you come to do the grades. For a complete beginner I imaging the pieces would be harder, but not too hard, and even more valuable.

Ameno y útil
Está muy bien para usar en clase, no lo recomendaría tanto para practicar en casa porque creo que hay otros que están mejor dirigidos al aprendizaje autónomo.

great introduction to sight reading
great introduction to sight reading. bit too much of an easy introduction in my opinion - it's broken down A LOT so doesnt leave much to your imagination

excellent for boys (and girls as well)
I found this book excellent for my son (8) who is struggling with reading music having initially learned the suzuki method. He is as a result exceptionally good aurally and has been relying on that rather than actually reading the music. This book series lays it all out as an adventure with codes to spot and identify to help you learn and progress. My son has gone from complete 'strop' and not wanting to look at music at all to asking to do the next two or three short pieces and play the games. All of the piano time series are wonderful and this book definitely joins the dinosaur and spooky piano time as fabulous additions to our music which are played all the time. Book one aims to get the player to ABRSM grade 1 standard sight reading and so on. I was so pleased I have bought book 3 for my other son!
