Worth it
The value and quality for the money is really good. I do have the matte black one and love the texture of the body and the weight but the wavy silver feels a bit lighter and less substantial. As far as the writing experience, the nib is smooth. I currently have inked it with the Platinum Chou Kuro ink and have had some hard start issues/drying out. For these kinds of pigment (or shimmer) inks in this pen I’d recommend applying silicon grease at the opening to mitigate the issue. Dye-based inks would most likely not have these problems. The click of the pen is satisfying and convenient for note taking, sketching, and storing away in a pen case, bag or clipped on. The converter reservoir is quite comparable to most other converters. Be sure not to overfill it and to leave a bit of space to avoid a mess. Cleaning is fairly standard except I wouldn’t worry about needing to clean the body as there’s no ink flowing outside the converter and nib section. The clip has a straight section different from the Pilot VP so it may be an adjustment to write with at first. It is aligned to the nib so it can be a visual origin point when picking up the pen to start writing. Great for a pen-abling gift for either a fountain pen beginner or for a collector. I do however would have preferred a medium nib option, but with the inks I’ve used the fine leans towards a medium fine and the EF leans towards a F so it works out for me. I hope JinHao will release a matte white in the future to pair with the matte black. At the time of this review it is priced at $16-17.

80% of the quality for 15% of the price - smooth writing, solid build.
Solid build, perhaps 80% of the quality at 15-20% of the price compared to the pen that inspired it. I bought a ‘Fine’ nib, but it rights more like a ‘medium’ when compared to the pilot capless - not sure if that was just mine but something to consider if you like fine nibs. Came with an ink converter but no internal cap, so you may not be able to switch to ink cartridges. It isn’t as consistent with ink flow as the pilot, but still very smooth to write with and no blotchiness. At this price this has to be a 5/5

Quick to start using jotter
Normally a fountain pen like this would not appeal top me. However it is convenient for quick notes on a pocket notebook. The extra fine nib is smooth and functional on cheap paper. I was reluctant to buy it because the clip is near the fingers and the pen tapers to thicker at the tip. This is probably nice for someone who likes a thicker pen. For me it's not comfortable for long writing sessions. As a jotter it's almost perfect. It will be perfect once I am used to the pen being 'upside down' since the clip is near the point I have to turn it over when pulling it out of a pen holder in my jotter

Pretty decent for the cost...
It writes like a ballpoint pen, which is nice. I had some Pilot cartridges sitting around so used one. It took a bit and I had to squeeze the cartridge to get the ink to flow, but once it did, the pen wrote nicely. It's a nice pen to take to work. I also already have some silicone grease on hand to put in the trap door area so the ink is less likely to dry out. I got two others to give as gifts.
