Wunderbach und Toll Pen
I have to answer and comment in english since my German writing would be a nightmare ... So, I am very happy for the purchase of this very nice pen with an "F" nib (nice and competitive offer for the metal model compared with the macrolon one) The very first experiment of writing is really in the line of the several comments seen on various "pen addict" sites The "F" nib is a comfortable "fine" nib , not very far from some "M" nibs in my opinion, and quite smooth (even on an 80g paper) I will have the opportunity to compare with an "EF" nib soon (from Lamy too : the Lamy Dialog CC) The shape is specific, and "modern" looking ; holding the pen is pleasant and not slippery as I was "expecting" it with a bit anxiety ! I did not try to unscrew the front part (rather very tight, and bad curiosity !) just in case of future maintenance (I will see with a "Lamy shop" as far as required) - Filling the pen is a no problem matter Enjoy the pen too when you dare make the step to get it in hand

Wodurch also überzeugt dieses Schreibgerät?

Great Product for the Special Black Friday Price
If not for the price, may not have considered. Writes well, built like a tank, smooth ink flow, great piston and comfortable... no issues with the two 'hinges' at the side. Having said that, the EF is rather broad similar to a Japanese nib size Fine to Medium leaning towards Medium. Purchased based on many positive reviews from users and friends. Design quite 'outdated' but if one is fine with that, no issues. However, Japanese nib users who prefer Japanese EF and/or F nibs may find the line width too wide. Overall, great fountain pen especially on a Black Friday Sale.

Exactly what the doctor (literally) prescribed
I began using fountain pens after my rheumatologist, chiropractor, orthopedist, and massage therapist all recommended them to ease the burden of extensive writing with arthritic hands with RSIs and carpal tunnel pain. I've been looking for the ultimate "painful hands" pen ever since, and finally found it in the Lamy 2000. There isn't much anyone can add at this point about the design of this pen. It has a permanent spot in the Museum of Modern Art and has accrued a whole collection of awards for its design and engineering. The tolerances of the Makrolon body are so tight the separation between the filler knob and pen body cannot even be felt running a fingernail down the pen feeling for the join. It is meticulously engineered and perfectly produced. This is my second Lamy 2000; I'd had my eye on the limited-edition Black Amber one at Goulet for ages, and when it dropped to nearly half-price I treated myself to one. I tend to write very small, and sometimes in Japanese, which requires an even finer line to remain legible, so I prefer Japanese EF or F nibs and rarely stray from EF nibs when I buy from non-Japanese manufacturers. The EF nib on my Black Amber is astonishingly smooth for its size and nearly comparable to a Japanese EF, unlike every other Lamy pen I have purchased. EF nibs tend to be scratchy simply because they're so very pointy, but the nibs on the Lamy 2000s are quite different from other Lamy nibs and the exceptional nib on the Black Amber put me in the uncomfortable position of wanting to carry a very expensive pen as my EDC. Not wanting to risk loss, damage, or theft of the most expensive pen I'd ever treated myself to, I decided to get a Makrolon 2000 for EDC, and uncharacteristically chose a M nib so I could use it to play with some of my showier shading/sheening inks for EDC. I thought if the EF was that remarkably smooth, the M would be even smoother. And yet still... I. Am. Stunned. The M nib on this Makrolon Lamy 2000 is beyond buttery-smooth, beyond glassy-smooth. I have several glass dip pens, and none of them FLOAT the way this pen does. I collect Parker 51s, famous for their smoothness and effortless writing experience. This pen here blows them away, as much as it grieves me to admit it. My beloved 51s have nothing on this. I honestly cannot tell when I am making contact with the paper, aside from seeing the line appear. There is no feedback whatsoever. The "Makrolon" fiberglass body is so much lighter in comparison to the stainless steel Black Amber that filling it with ink detectably changed the weight of the pen. I find the grip exceptionally comfortable; the taper means that my hand can always find the width it wants on the grip. The brushed texture of the Makrolon is repeated on the stainless grip and it gives effortless traction for the fingers; there is no need at all to squeeze the pen to maintain control. The grip warms quickly and gently in the hand. The net effect of all these qualities -- the feather-light weight, the warmth and friction of the grip, the always-perfect diameter, and the ice-skating glide of the perfectly-tuned, very wet nib -- is that the pen seems to disappear completely in the hand. I feel as though I am waving an empty hand above the paper and the ink magically appears behind it. The overall performance is some Platonic ideal of penhood, the form so in tune with the function that it vanishes completely, leaving only its finished work behind. For anyone who has been told they should switch to fountain pens for medical reasons -- carpal tunnel pain, RSI, arthritis -- this is exactly what the doctor (literally, in my case) prescribed. There is no need to squeeze, no need to apply pressure. Despite all three conditions I just listed, I can write pages at a time with this pen without tiring or feeling pain. This is the most effortless writing experience I have found in over a decade of collecting excellent fountain pens. It is not a pen for everyone. If you prefer a bit of feedback from your nib, you won't find it in the medium nib. If you prefer a bit of flex or line variation, this is not the pen for that. If you want the ease of cartridges, you should note that this pen uses bottled ink exclusively and will never accept a cartridge. If you want a glassy, near-gushing-wet nib that floats across the paper on a buffer of ink and lays down a bold, reliable line, in a pen that feels like nothing at all in the hand, skip my decade of searching and just start here.

Unrivaled king of pens
The ultimate pen, the Lamy 2000 is obviously a statement of status. I have worked with the medium and fine nibbed variants. Both were the best writing experience I’ve had. Balanced weight unless you post the cap. Pair with an ink thirsty vellum and a quality ink to leave an impression. Note: they do not take a fall well. Keep somewhere safe l, maybe not a briefcase :)

Revised: Why did I wait so long? (I didn't the second time!)
** UPDATE: July 8, 2014 This should illustrate the value and precision of the LAMY 2000 fountain pen. It is a mature (Legacy) product with a classic style and the best value for an instrument under $300.00. Once you are hooked, there is no turning back! You will not regret making this investment (I did it twice). My LAMY 2000 rolled off my desk as I was getting my inkbottle out to refill it. I broke the NIB with my negligence at the Achilles! I cannot describe the internal emotional feeling when your chosen "go to" pen warrants repair. Unfortunately, I could not find a replacement NIB for the pen but LAMY stands behind their product and you must send it in for repairs. There is an approximately 3 week's turnaround time and approximately $60 + shipping & handling charge (fair price). I reverted to a LAMY Studio Stainless Steel fountain pen that I own. It was fine but it was not my LAMY 2000. In approximately 1 hour after using the Studio, I signed in on Amazon and ordered another LAMY 2000 XF Fountain Pen (delivery tomorrow). As for my damaged LAMY, it is a wonderful calligraphy pen now - LOL. ***************************************** I own several LAMY fountain pens the Safari, Studio, and the Dialog 3 respectively, but seemed to avoid the 2000 for some unknown reason. I am a graduate student pursuing a dual Master's and needed a motivation tool (symbol). I decided to part with $130 and invest in the LAMY 2000. It arrived...(S***) - I could have bought three of these for the price I paid for the LAMY Dialog 3! The LAMY 2000 is a fantastic utilitarian instrument (daily use). It is made of a combination of fiberglass and brushed stainless steel known as Makrolon (Lamy, 2014). It is not metal like the Studio or Dialog 3 but sturdy and not plastic feeling like the Safari (plastic). The 2000 is functional where the Dialog 3 is pretty and only good for signatures and the Studio is great as well and similarly priced in price. The real value is how the 2000 holds ink and why everyone says it lasts a week or longer. "Polycarbonates (PC), known by the trademarked names Lexan, Makrolon, Makroclear, arcoPlus® and others, are a particular group of thermoplastic polymers. They are easily worked, molded, and thermoformed. Because of these properties, polycarbonates find many applications. Polycarbonates do not have a unique resin identification code and are identified as Other, 7. Items made from polycarbonate can contain the precursor monomer bisphenol A (BPA)." Source: Polycarbonate - [...] I had bought 2 extra LAMY converters with this purchase (would need to replace them in my other pens anyway). I opened the 2000 and looked to see where to place the converter. What? It did not come with an ink converter. Okay, that is why I ordered 2 converters. Wait, converter does not fit. Where is the manual (for a pen no less)? To my amazement, the whole body of the pen is the ink reservoir and does not require a converter! You twist the butt end of the pen to activate the piston to draw ink into the body, explaining how it lasts a week or more! I could not see the line where the twist mechanism is (quality/craftsmanship) that required me to read the manual. A classic design and legacy product - I clearly understand the reason it is still around. References Lamy, U. S. A. (2014, July 8, 2014).
