The medium size was perfect for my son who is 9 years old. He wore it to school for career day because he wants to become an artist. The outfit was soft on his skin and did not itch like other costumes can. He was very happy to wear it.

My daughter wore this for a school event and everyone loved it. It was a lot cuter than I expected. The material is typical thin costume material so we were able to wear it even though it over her outfit even though it was 90° out.

Don't buy! DIY ????
I looked everywhere- in actual Halloween stores and all over the Internet and this was the only artist costume I found. And I wish I hadn't - - (1) The only article of clothing in the costume that was size-appropriate was the beret (2) the striped top was very wide but not long enough to even cover my 6 year old DD's tummy - And it was made of a flimsy sheer material; (3) The art smart, the highlight of the costume, was flimsy and also very wide yet very short; (4) The next scarf busted and designed for my 3lb Chihuahua, not a person; and (5) Amazon posting is misleading - Costume includes neither pants nor the artist palate. After returning the costume to Amazon, a run to Target and the craft store gave me I had everything I needed. Added bonus, my DD loved painting her smock.

Don't waste your time buying this costume, the hat and the scarf is missing, the quality is poor
