Typical KATO high quality.
For those familiar with KATO, let me just say this is the same high quality gear that KATO always sells. As far as the color, one picture in the ad shows the engine bright Yellow. The other picture shows it Yellow with some Orange mixed in. The train is colored Yellow with the Orange... For those new to the hobby or new to KATO.... Kato is a high quality train maker from Japan. They put the same engines in their kits, as they sell separately. At least one other brand puts cheap engines in their kits, and sells better engines separately. (A nasty trick.) Anyway, KATOs look nice, and run smoothly slow or fast. This, and most every KATO engine is "DCC ready." Which means it can easily accept a drop in board to make it DCC. But it is DC from the factory. The freight cars are good quality. Every car has knuckle couplers on it. If you're starting out, you have to read the information posted for any KATO kit. They sell 4 kinds of kits. There are starter kits, which have a train, track and DC controller. Track starter kits which have track and a controller, but no train. Train kits that have a train but no track and controller, and track accessory kits which are meant to go with Kato Starter kits, or track starter kits. These have no train or DC controller. Make sure you read the ad closely to make sure you know what you're getting. KATO is a little more than some other brands, but not "oh my god" more. If you buy cheaper kits, you'll probably be sorry before long.

Just what I ordered.
This train set was great. I already had a track and was looking for a second engine and more cars but didn't want to pay for a transformer and tracks I didn't need.
