A Fine Reminder of the Apollo Program
The 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission has people looking to the moon again--and that's a good thing. DVDs, CDs and, of course, models have come out to honor the amazing accomplishment of putting men on the moon. The Lunar Excursion Module is a faithful, handcrafted 1/48 scale model of the Lunar Module originally made by Grumman. Why not really a toy, the model is well made and attractive. It is a bit on the pricey side, but if you are looking for a fine remembrance of Apollo this will fit the bill (no pun intended) very nicely. One complaint is that the base says "Lunar Excursion Module." Actually, NASA changed the name of the craft to the Lunar Module (LM) early in the Apollo program. Therefore the base should really have been labeled "Lunar Module." Strange looking as it was, this was an amazing space vehicle, one that performed admirably and one worth honoring and remembering in this model.

The detail is really poor,And it's way over priced

There’s few options for built LEM. Decent from few ft away & if had for ~ $75 shipped IMO.
Got a good deal on this “Very Good” from Amazon. Antennas & ladder & needed repair and wire protrusions on top bent. Easy fixes with needle nose & Bondic UV activated glue. Satisfied with it for price I got it for. Not painted or assembled very well, e.g. some thrusters looked crooked (not parallel/perpendicular.) Oh and Lunar Module vs Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) labeling is the least of the worries with this:) Looks good from a few feet away & seems you can only do better building/buying a true build yourself model if you’re on the picky side.

Paint work is horrible!

Fantastic!!!
I love this item. Assemble in seconds. I have read the reviews and I'm still very happy with my LEM. If there were any paint flaws they are so minor and I can touch up faster than any return of the item or ever being noticed. There is only one person in my circle that would ever be able to make any meaningful comments about the LEM but he will never see the model itself but only the base for signing. Great model, thanks!!!

Poorly Detailed and Painted Resin Model
I really wanted to give this display model a higher score, but it just doesn't earn it. This is actually the second Daron Executive Series lunar module I own, purchased to display beside the combined lunar and command module in the same series (see photo). The lunar module from that set was more cleanly assembled and painted, and the command module was of even better build and painting, earning the set 4 stars. The standalone lunar module here was sloppily assembled and painted, and while the only difference may well be which worker picked my model to work on off the assembly line, the difference is significant enough to drop my rating to 3 stars. Painting is fair to poor, with runs and uneven lines. The foil on the lander legs in particular is uneven. If you look at the photo, however, the model looks acceptable at that distance and seen from a few feet away it will look just fine to most people. Also, unless you want to build and paint your own lunar module from a kit (a project I have seen even space modeling enthusiasts balk at), this is the only game in town for a large 1:48 prebuilt lunar module. From beyond a few feet this model will definitely impress, but it would have been even better if it lived up to closer scrutiny.
