This is an awesome model. Got it as a birthday gift and is really nice, it comes with very well made decals and you can build it full hull or waterline. The down side is that the planes are molded in clear plastic making it hard to see where the propellers and landing gears go. The other downside is the 28 mm guns and 5 in guns are a pain to put on so it will have to take someone willing to have that struggle. Otherwise great birthday present.

This will be quite a challenge!
When I opened the box I was astounded by the detail of this ship … down to the landing gear of the aircraft! YES!! You have to assemble the tiny … tiny propellers AND … the even tiny tinier landing gear! I haven’t gotten to her just yet as I already have a boat on my table (I also have the ‘91 version) then I’m gonna have a short break and maybe do a tank or something …

Really good model, a LOT of tiny parts, and glue tip necessary, but great quality!
Excellent model, same if not better plastic quality of revell models. the planes (12 SBDs 12 F4Fs and 2 TBDs) are clear plastic instead of solid color, which doesn't matter surprisingly. WARNING the paint guide is of the entire model and not of individual parts and that is the reason for the 4 stars (preferably 4.5. but amazon only has whole stars). tweezers, airbrush, and small paintbrushes recommended and glue tip necessary

Impressive
Great detail. I'm very pleased with this ship. The one thing I didn't care for was that the aircraft was made out of clear plastic. Makes it hard to see.
