Beautiful DIY journal, jammed-packed with supplies.
This truly is a wonderful DIY journal kit. I was quite impressed with it. It would make a great gift for 8-year-olds through tweens and teens. I think it would delight and sparkle imagination and inspire creative writing. The kit is packaged beautifully for an easy and attractive gift presentation. The gift box is jammed-packed with interesting and varied supplies. All of the supplies are of excellent quality. The journal itself is well-made and sturdy. The journal paper is of high quality. Each page has a glossy finish and thick enough to resist bleed-through of pen inks. The set of 8 fine-liner pens work well, with ink flowing immediately. The caps of the pens are closed tightly when a click snap is heard. The pen, with multiple color ink points, also works well. However, several of the tips needed warm-up scratching before the inks started to flow. I like that the kit also includes a scissor and a glue stick so that these tools are always readily at hand to work in the creative journal. The scissor is all plastic without a metal blade, but it cuts well. The the little diamond-shaped clips are unique and elegant. The letter and small image templates are a plus and fun to use to write special messages and codes. The two glitter tapes will sparkle imagination and enhance presentations. The stickers are a step-up—not too kiddish for tweens and teens. The added scrapbook decorative sheets can be used for backgrounds, accents, borders, etc. I love any products that can inspire journal and creative writing in kids. Giving opportunities for children and teens to express themselves creatively is so important. This DIY journal kit will do just that. The high quality and beauty of the journal and the supplies will further enhance the experience of creative expression.

Underwhelmed
The picture shows a very young girl using this kit and the scissors that are included are very cheap and for toddlers, however the skill-set needed to appropriately use the items is more for a girl of ten years old or so. One of the little cards that comes with it says, "It's a good day to save lives" - what?? It doesn't make sense to me why that would be in there, but maybe they're trying to give options to a variety of interests (but there's only three cards, so not a lot of options, lol, just a weird one!) I'm all for saving lives, but what is a typical child going to do with that card? It just seems to be put together without a lot of vetting or thought. The journal itself and many of the components are fine and will bring out creativity, but the price-point (almost seventeen dollars at the time I'm writing this review) is not impressive. A little tweaking can improve this item. It was packaged nice, but I definitely wouldn't give this to an older child with those cheap, babyish scissors.
