Great quality for such an affordable doll
I've been collecting dolls as an adult for quite a few years now, and these Mermaid High dolls might have been short-lived, but have a lot of character and quality in them. My favorite of the bunch is this one, Mari. She has a gothy/emo look to her with a tentacle theme that would make Ursula blush. But the best part of the doll is certainly her silky hair. I'm so impressed with the hair length and quality of this doll. It's very long, very brushable, and very soft. Mari was the first of my Mermaid High collection, but she certainly wasn't the last.

She's my favorite mermaid high character but..
First of all she's really cute, when she's in her box or out box her hair is such a mess, it's really soft and good quality" like some of the rainbow high dolls" but mess and puffy which is ı didn't like. So i gave her a good wash and combing with a hair conditioner and it turn out very well, i also used curling cream after washing and make curls with my finger and now she's gorgeous. My only complain about this doll, mine came out that no holes in her ears. So I had to do something, i used scissors to make her holes for ears and that was little hard to do. Other than that she has a much smaller tail fin, other mermaid dolls has a really big tail fins, this doll has a small tail fin, theese are my only complain about her.. But she's adorable her original price is little much, i got her from sale and really worth it

INCREDIBLE value for the price of this doll! Only two downsides...
I hadn't heard of this doll line before, and decided to give it a try as it was on sale for just under $12. I was HIGHLY impressed with the quality. Sewn fashions, lots of accessories, and a poseable doll that has a full head of silky, styleable hair! The hair feels like Rainbow High hair, but without all the gel that RH packs them with, so even better! The doll is articulated at the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and neck, so she's very poseable. The plastic she's made from feels solid and durable. Her face print is a little simplistic, but not bad. If you're an adult collector/doll artist like me, she's a fun candidate for a repaint. I'm seriously impressed at the overall quality and amount of accessories for the budget; at $11 Barbie would give you a basic non-poseable doll with no accessories! Clothes fit-wise, she's in between a gen 3 Monster High and a skinny Barbie fit, so she might be able to share certain clothes with either of those lines. As for the two downsides: one is the doll's earrings. They're very fiddly to get onto the doll, and very small and easy to lose. They don't stay in securely the way Barbie/Monster High/Rainbow High earrings are. I could see a child losing them instantly; I almost lost them just putting the doll up for display! The other downside is that this was THE MOST DIFFICULT unboxing I've ever had to do. Seriously, they packaged her like they never expected anyone to ever take her out of the box. I had to shred the box apart with scissors to get to where the doll was tied in with plastic ties that went into yet another inaccessible part of the box. The plastic ties left holes in some of the doll's clothing pieces and it was difficult to not cut her hair when cutting the ties that pinned it in. So, be aware of those issues. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this doll for kids and collectors alike. You really can't beat the value of getting a poseable doll with nice hair AND outfit options at this price point.

Review as a collector/customizer
I had passed up this line initially because it looked kinda low quality but I saw her on sale for like $5 and decided to check it out. I was actually really impressed with the quality of her clothes and accessories! I love her purse, shoes, and skirt the most. I know there was some criticism of printed on safety pins but imo it looks intentional, and the skirt is made of a combo of pleather and an interesting textured fabric. The purse is a heavy,slightly textured vinyl that looks convincing as a filled up pleather purse. The shoes have a pretty iridescent finish and scale texture. I love the chunky platform style. Her feet are bigger but monster high can also wear her shoes. The body is not my favorite and her legs look weird out of the mermaid tail. The joints are unaesthetic and articulation mobility is medium. The face paint is simple, not bad but not too exciting. Her hair is long and pretty, the bangs are well done. If you can get a good deal like I did I'd say even reusing the clothes alone is well worth it. If I paid full price I think I would have felt a little disappointed by the base doll. It seems like a mismatch to me but maybe if you have a younger kid who likes the more detailed looks of fashion dolls made for older kids it would be a perfect choice. The packaging is cute and gift able.

First off I would like to say I really like the Mermaid High dolls and am sorry we probably won't be seeing more. They are a great value for the price and way more playable than other mermaid dolls. They actually have legs and extra clothes so they can be human or a mermaid. Their hair is about the quality of a Barbie fashionistas as is the quality of their clothes. Finly however seems to have the highest quality out of the whole Mermaid High set. To my surprise I have received 2 very different Finlys. One has an orange plastic belt and crown with orange streaks in her hair. The other doll has a pearly pink crown and belt with pink streaks in her hair. The doll with orange has darker eyes, make-up and freckles. The pink one has lighter more pastel make-up, eyes and freckles. I prefer the pink but all I have seen so far in person in stores is orange. The pink is from Amazon but I'm not sure which one you will get when you order. I have gotten both. Good luck. I wonder are there other variations? I would be curious to hear what other people have found.
