Great for little hands to practice stringing/fine motor skills
Our 2yr old loves using these to practice stringing beads - we love it for the fine motor skill work she gets in while doing that (our 6yr old also loves designing bracelets and necklaces with this set too). Cute colors, wooden beads with strings that have hard plastic on the ends that allow for easy stringing of beads by little hands. We just have to watch the 2yr old closely while she uses these as most of the beads are small and she’s not past the stage of putting things in her mouth from time to time. Wooden tray has just one large compartment once removed from packaging, it does not have spots for beads to be sorted - it’s just a catch all tray but it’s a good working surface and prevents beads from rolling off table.

Wonderful quality and value!
The string in this kit is so easy to use with secured ends to prevent raveling. The string is a nice weight, and it is not warped like cord in most kits. There is a really nice assortment of bead sizes and shapes. I would not have minded some different colors other than pink & purple, but what I received was exactly as advertised so I cannot fault that. It would make a very nice gift, and my 7 year old daughter got many hours of enjoyment out of it!

Granddaughter’s New Love
Bought for my 3 year old granddaughter to create with as she has become infatuated with jewelry lately. She loved it and sits for an hour creating her own jewelry. Love the ends of the strings as they make it easy for a young child to string the beads. Great for her fine motor skills!

Loved by 4yo, but QC needs improvement
The good: My 4yo and 21mo thoroughly enjoyed this bead set. My 21mo was able to string them on herself. The ends have hard plastic tips so it’s easy to get the beads on. Them being made out of wood instead of cheap plastic is also great. The bad: Quality control is nonexistent. At least 5 of the letter beads were poorly done. A couple beads were cracked and painted over. The beads aren’t completely smooth on the inside, so they fray the string. Finally, I wish instead of the plastic container the beads came in, it came in built-in dividers in the tray. Overall, I would buy these again. I got them on sale for $16, so for the hours of fun my daughters had with it, definitely was worth it.

Great variety in this set
Our daughter loves beads and her favorite colors are pink and purple - so this was an ideal pick. We've purchased a number of Melissa & Doug's products before and always been impressed with the quality. These beads are no exception. They are small, but the product clearly states the ages for which these beads are suitable. Our five year old had no problems manipulating them onto the strings. And there are LOADS of beads in the set. What's really nice is the variety (shape, size, texture) - flowers, butterflies, teddy bears, stars, hearts. A few more clasps included in the set would be helpful as we ran out. The storage box is sturdy but it's worth taping the lid when not in use to avoid spills.

Adorable jewelry set for young kids
We’ve gifted a few jewelry making sets this year to young kids (4-6 years old) and this seemed to be one of the better ones. We liked that it had letters, which the gift receiver really liked to spell out her name. There were a lot of beads in the pack too, so this gift could be used to make quite a few pieces of jewelry. Would also be a fun activity for two kids to do together for a play date. Choking hazard for really young kids, but that’s to be expected with this type of item.
