It is good for children
The media could not be loaded. My child loves it. In half a day, she was able to figure out how to put together puzzles correctly. She is 17 months old. This is exactly what I was looking for for her age. The only cons that I noticed is that the animals always start making sounds when the child brings something to it. It could just be her hand or a wrong image of another animal. For example, if you bring a cat to a dog, the cat still barks. This can be confusing for a child who is just learning about animals. It would be nice if, in case of an error, there will be some other sound or something like "oops, it's not right, let's try again".

Lot of Fun!
I bought this puzzle, and another, for my mother who had dementia. It was a very nice, and easy interactive toy for her to use and she enjoyed it.

Cute puzzle but doesn’t work
I had to edit my review. At first I wasn’t happy because the sound didn’t seem to be working. After reading the back of the puzzle though, I realized it needs bright lighting in order to make the sounds. Now that I know this, I give this toy 5 stars. The puzzle pieces are easy to put in and take out. The colors are vibrant and eye catching. It will be a great tool to help my son learn animals and what’s sounds they make.

Good quality
The media could not be loaded. The quality is excellent and it seems quite safe for children who still put things in their mouths because the handle doesn't come off and that's the only thing that could be dangerous for little ones. One of the animals wasn't making a sound, but I don't think that's a problem overall.

Great fun at an affordable price!
Ordered this puzzle for my daughter and absolutely do not regret this purchase! She was enthralled by all the different animal noises and trying to figure out how they fit in. One thing I have to say about this puzzle is that the sounds are activated by the shadow of the pieces blocking the light-so the noises will not work in dim lighting. However, that feature is not really an issue for my daughter, who absolutely loves this puzzle, or I, who enjoys a long stretch of me time while she plays with it!!-

Made my daughter cry
This puzzle is horrible. The sounds are hard to distinguish from one another and are very harsh and unpleasant, to the point that the puzzle made my one year old cry! Another fun bonus of this puzzle is that the sounds go off when you dim the lights, turn on the lights, or turn off the lights. Really great when you are cleaning up toys after baby has gone to bed! Apparently, as one reviewer pointed out, the sounds are activated by light. As for educational value, the the puzzle is not smart enough to play the right sound when you put the right puzzle piece in its place. In other words, your child may think that a cow goes oink if she places the cow piece where the pig goes, that is, if they can even distinguish the pig sound from the cow sound in this garbage puzzle. Oh, and did I mention that this is not even truly a wooden puzzle? All Melissa and Doug puzzles have a layer of plastic coating a layer of toxin-laden MDF. There is a small strip of wood in there somewhere so that they can market it as a wood toy. Do yourself a favor and avoid Melissa and Doug. Try Small World Toys puzzles instead.

Toddler’s favorite puzzle
My toddler loves putting the animals in this puzzle and naming them. He literally holds the puzzle with him all over the house and even brings it in the car because he loves it so much.

I bought this for my 19 month old granddaughter because she loves animals, I love all Melissa and Doug toys because they are well made and priced right. I read some of the reviews on the puzzle before I bought it and I almost didn’t buy it because some of the reviews stated that the puzzle is “ Possessed “ and just goes off at random times, or sometimes the animals didn’t make the sound at all. Anyway since I have bought several items of theirs before for my grandchildren I went ahead and bought it, it arrived and worked great, then it didn’t. I called the number on the back of the puzzle and I have to say that their customer service is amazing, come to find out that each piece is light sensitive and if you are playing with it in a room that is a normal lit room then it works perfectly, my granddaughters bedroom at night is dark but has a nightlight so if the pieces weren’t in the puzzle and you went in and turned on the light the animals would make their sounds because the sensor on the puzzle piece is sensitive to light. We now have the puzzle out in the living room with most of her other toys and we haven’t had a problem since. When I spoke to the customer service representative he said that they are using this feedback to possibly have this information on the package. I am glad I bought this puzzle and called customer service before writing my review since I know reading reviews on products will sometimes sway someone’s purchase when all that is needed is a phone call to customer service, which I know takes time, but I would rather give a good review to a good product than a bad or mediocre review to a good product because I didn’t make the call. I definitely plan on buying more of these puzzles.

Good quality, but there are a number of design 'flaws'
I'll caveat part of this by saying our 18 month old has been playing with it for 5-10 minutes, so not the most in-depth assessment. Whilst the product look like it's sturdy, so will last, we found the following two 'issues'. The noise doesn't actually activate when the piece is inserted correctly, but when it's more or less over the sensor. The has the following implications, that the animal doesn't need to be placed in position, nor does it need to be placed inside the correct position (so you get a duck going meow). As they are light sensors, our daughter has also figured our she can lie over the base and get all sorts of animal noises. Fun, but not what we were hoping for.

Content mais bruit n'importe quand
Mon frère de presque 2 ans est trop content de ce puzzle mais le bruit des animaux se met en route n'importe quand et quand il y a de la lumière artificielle

Llego roto
Siempre recomiendo esta marca, para mi es garantía y mis hijas tienen colección de juguetes de Melissa and Dough pero en esta ocasión compramos este rompecabezas para regalo de mi sobrina y llegó roto de una esquina, la madera de veía de mala calidad, no pudimos devolverlo xq ya viajaban de regreso a casa a USA y ya no había tiempo y así se lo llevaron pero es el único juguete de esta marca del que podría quejarme, además no se xq estaba solo este diseño mi hoja tiene el puzzle con sonidos pero rojo y los dibujos son más lindos, los sonidos de mejor volumen y el material de mejor calidad, este no lo recomiendo mcho

It’s a hit!
My 22 month old twins LOVE this puzzle! They’re especially obsessed with the rooster sound lol! I’m amazed at how quickly they caught on and were able to play with this. It’s a great educational toy and I highly recommend it. I understand the other reviews that say that it doesn’t always work, and I thought the same, until I read the description again and realized that it’s light activated! If the room is a bit dark, the sounds don’t work but if you play near light, it works perfectly! Hope this helps :)

nicht so besonders
Die Bilder von diesem Puzzle sind super. Das ist aber auch das einzigste. Die Geräusche der Tiere sind nicht schön. Zum Teil kann man sie auch nicht erkennen. Und selbst, wenn man ein Tier in die falsche Position stecken möchte, ertönt das jeweilige Tiergeräusch. Des Weiteren, war der hintere Teil nicht richtig zusammen geklebt, so dass man es selber nochmal nachleimen mußte. Zurück schicken wäre wahrscheinlich schwierig geworden, da dieses Puzzle aus England kam und mein englisch nicht so super ist. Ich würde es nicht wieder kaufen.
