Beautiful, strong and fun push walker
We (but mostly our baby) loves this little walker! It's very high quality, feels sturdy to the touch/push and works quite perfectly. Our daughter was even enthralled by the twisty blocks half way of the handle. Early on she would sit and spin those for longer than she would stand and push the whole cart. Our daughter has been using this to walk around for almost four months now, well before she was walking on her own. So this provided her a practical and fun way to get up and start using her feet, learning to balance and practice walking. It's been fun to watch her slowly get more confident and begin to walk correctly (not on toes, feet pointed straight, etc). One note, that actually turned out to be more than fine, is that the gators on the front don't actually make noise even though the name is chomp and clack. There isn't really much of a clack to be heard. You really only hear the wheels turning. This wasn't a bad thing (and for our sanity probably was a good thing), but I kind of thought the gators would make noise as the cart was pushed. They do make the chomp motion up and down though. Another thing to be aware of is the height of the handle is not flexible. Our daughter is a bit short and smaller than normal for her size so she's had no problem fitting the height of the handle. But thinking if someone had a taller baby maybe it wouldn't fit so naturally? Not really a big deal as I woud think once kids are too tall, they're also too tall to be needing a walker. But something to know. Overall it's been a great purchase that we're very happy we made.

Especially good for those JUST starting to cruise
Among my mom's group I'd say this walker and the Vtech sit to stand walker are the most popular. I decided to buy this one for my daughter's first Bday. She was just starting to cruise at this time. I decided on this over the Vtech because it felt much more sturdy and my daughter could push this along slowly without it slipping out from under her. The vtech is much lighter so when she'd stand behind it, it would move so fast that she would slip and tumble. Well it turns out my brother bought her the vtech for her Bday. I am glad that I kept both because she loves them both, still uses them both a lot and they are better suited for different situations. I'll focus on the Alligator push toy now It is GREAT for smooth floors, hardwood, tile and sidewalk because it is SO sturdy. It's perfect for a child who is just beginning to cruise and is still not very stable. Because it's on the heavier side, hey could lean on it without it speeding away, which would cause them to fall. Not the best for thick carpet. Now that my daughter can walk well she can push it around in rooms where we have a thicker carpet, but most people buy these when a child is just starting to walk and if you have mostly carpet in your house it probably won't be very easy for your child to push it around. My husband was concerned that my daughter would pinch her fingers in the mouth of the alligator, she never has but her little friend did. She was holding on to the alligators mouth and then leaned on it. I didn't think it was too big of a deal, it hurt i guess but she was fine. It wouldn't stop me from buying it. The only thing I'm bummed about was that all the other M&D alligator push toys I've seen are very vibrant in color, the blue part of mine looks like they only did one coat of paint and left it.

Adorable alligator push toy
I got this for my 9 month old son for Christmas. It is very sturdy and well made. It comes in two parts (handle and bottom) with two screws, so VERY easy for anyone to assemble. I read both positive and negative reviews on this item, and am very happy I decided to purchase it! The most negative review mentioned little shards of wood that flaked off. I am not sure how this could happen. After examining my toy, I have concluded her toy must have been faulty. My husband used to be a finished carpenter, and thought it was a very well made toy. He thought maybe the buyer got her toy wet, because that would be a good reason the wood was separating. It is not light weight or easy for a baby to pull over. We have hard wood floors, so he can't exactly pull himself up with it, because it travels. I would be careful with babies just learning to pull up or walk. I wouldn't be fooled that a new walker can just pull up and walk unattended. My son turned 9 months Christmas Eve and sat and played with the wooden beads at the back and would stand with my hand on his back. He can't push it yet. I haven't tried it on carpet yet and when the weather is nice I wanted to try it on soft grass. My two year old kept stealing it from him to watch the alligator's chomp, so it is definitely entertaining. I am excited to watch him grow into it. I would definitely recommend buying it!

No problems with quality, great toy!
I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift because he was starting to crawl in early November and I thought he would be ready for it. I ended up opening it at the end of November, since he was already pulling up on the furniture and cruising. I am impressed with the quality of this item, I read the other reviews that complained of chipping wood and breaking handles, but my push toy is very solid, it's really sturdy and well made and I'm not at all concerned about it being unsafe. The toy is heavy enough he can pull up on it without it tipping over. He is able to push it on our carpeted living room floor, or on the tile in the kitchen without difficulty. He loves the beads on the handle as well as the alligators, and I think it will be a toy he can enjoy even after he starts walking on his own. Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase. I bought it because I didn't want to buy a cheap plastic push toy, but also didn't want to spend a ton of money. This item delivered and I would recommend it. Cute, sturdy and fun.

Terrible quality. The left big wheel kept coming off after a few pushes.

Did not meet expectations
The item I received seems to be faulty as there is barely any sound when my baby pushes it. Disappointing

great toy!
I really loved this Melissa & Doug push toy. Bought to help my child lift himself up and move around confidently as his previous push toy (in plastic) was rather wobbly and my son didn't feel comfortable using to help himself stand up. It's really solid and nicely decorated and even now that my son can walk properly he still enjoys playing with it. If you are thinking of buying a steady and secure push toy this is the one for you

Satisfied with the quality
I really like Melissa & Doug toys, it desinged from kids' perspective. And my little son really like it. Although it is going a little fast on the wood floor. But my son really loves it. He just feeling speed at the beginning of his walking.:) It much better for my son after he can walk a little more steady.
