Great for any train-lovin' kiddo!
We got this for our 4 1/2 year-old son to go with his wooden train set. He loves it. The doors open and close easily and it seems that they do not detach during normal play time. Where the track ends, he put a straight piece and then attached his straight piece to a track piece that rotates so the trains can move to a variety of different tracks. The round house is open at the back, so the trains can still be accessed that way without opening the doors. But, there are little stubs that stick up so the trains inside the house won't roll out the backside. The colors are true to the photo. It's been a great addition to his train set. We highly recommend this for anyone wanting a roundhouse at a great and reasonable price. As a side note, our 3 year old daughter loves it too and can play with it without ruining it.

Great size and great price over the Thomas big roundhouse
This is a great roundhouse compared to the Thomas brand big roundhouse which I had and sold because it was so huge. The size of this maxim shed only allows for one train per bay and not their tender (except for james who sticks out a bit). My son doesn't mind taking them apart and parking them individually. We don't have the turntable yet (I ordered the maxim one for $6.39) though for the younger kids they don't mind just picking them up and turning them around. Also there are no dividing walls and the doors are a bit annoying to work with so you can just turn all the doors 90 degrees inward and you get dividing walls as well as not having to mess with the doors. I just gave him the shed already set up this way and he loves it.

Perfect Addition & Much Cheaper!
Purchased this for my 5yo's birthday as a much desired addition to his huge train track collection. After playing with Thomas & Friend's trains at Barnes & Noble, he kept telling everyone how much he wanted his own "Tidmouth Sheds" I was hesitant to spend the amount the Thomas brand was asking for their roundhouse, but then I stumbled across this one! He has no qualms that it's not exactly the same - I'm not even sure he realises! He loves it, loves to park all his trains in there to sleep at night! It's gorgeous, brightly colored and appears to be very well made. It's every train lovers necessity :)

Such a great addition to our train set!
The quality of this roundhouse is amazing. It is so sturdy, a generous size and well-built. It also comes already put together so my son and I just had to take it out of the box and attach it to our existing tracks. My son calls it Tidmouth's sheds from Thomas and friends, and he just loves putting his trains "to bed." The doors are smooth and the space where the trains "sleep" is generous. Highly recommend!!!

Fun, cute, durable
My two-year-old is obsessed with trains, and plays with this all the time. He puts his trains in one by one when they want "a little rest," then takes them out again when they've "got some gooooood work to do!" I like that this is a simple, battery-free, mostly-wooden toy that allows for a broad range of imaginative play. My one gripe is that the doors can be hard for little hands to open - we had to tie a ribbon to one of them so that my son could work it. We got most of the pieces of my son's train set as hand-me-downs, from yard sales, etc., and I don't find any substantial difference between new, brand-name train pieces and used or non-brand-name ones. We got this new only because we were looking for something specific (my son's also obsessed with train "sheds"), and it's a good fit for what we wanted.

Awesome and best value
Great product and great price. Had to wait for shipping but it can't stand up to a 2.5 yr old no problem. Works with Thomas, Chugginton, Brio, and generic wooden trains. Short triple axle trains have some trouble smoothly turning to the outside two garages but not really an issue. Fairly large, so if you have a small train table you might want to buy lots of small track pieces to get creative. Ours is on a homemade table so no issues.

Not bad
The doors are difficult to open. Overall, OK. Strong, solid, can be operated by kids.

Great addition to a timeless toy!
My son (3) got this for Christmas and loves to play with it. It fits all the engines and he loves to open and close the doors. We already had several male-male pieces so it didn't make building a track more difficult, but if you don't have them I strongly recommend buying some. I also recommend buying the roundtable, so the engines can enter the roundhouse backwards and can leave driving forward. We have the original Thomas Wooden Railway and everything fit together nicely. I have no idea why the Thomas round house is so much more expensive. It was a no-brainer for us to go with the cheaper generic version.
