Instructions could use some help
The model parts are molded plastic and the detail is very nice. However, the instructions that come with the kit are printed so small as to be almost unreadable. I went to Lionel's web site and printed the instructions on 8 1/2 x 11 paper but they are still very small. I don't see how anyone could use the instruction pamphlet that came with the kit. In addition to being so small, there are only pictures showing which parts to put together in sequence to build the kit. You have to pay close attention to the pictures to insure that you mount the windows right side up. Some parts are slightly warped so you will need to clamp some of them in place until the glue sets. It is a nice kit, but be aware of the instruction issues.

Cherished memories
Bought this once before when my son was 8. It was destroyed unfortunately during travels. He was very pleased to see it again. He still sets the train up under the Christmas tree. So many memories. It takes patience and time to put together.

timing
I used super glue because i didn't have the patience to wait for days for model glue to dry. kinda flimsy so reinforced glue between the two major pieces including between the bases. it's solid as a rock, i've had it 4 years and it survived a move from colorado to montana.

Cheap made plastic pieces that does not even fit together . Don’t waste your money.
What a joke . Cheaply made product that is over $100 that does not even go together . Plastic pieces don’t fit together . We had to cut and cut with a knife to make it fit. How this is over $100 is mind boggling . Cheap toy that u buy it in dollar tree is what this is . What a waste of money and time . Don’t waste your time .
