Faber-Castell Anime Drawing Kit: Chibi Edition
I bought this kit for myself, a beginner adult who has never really drawn anime but wanted a fun, structured way to start a new hobby. I've been working through the instruction book and using the included supplies for about two weeks, spending maybe an hour a day with it. The quality of the included materials is quite good for a beginner set. The color pencils blend smoothly enough for basic practice, and the drawing supplies (like the pencil and eraser) feel like they’ll last for a while. The best part of the kit is the instruction book. It breaks down the process of drawing Chibi characters into clear, easy-to-follow steps. It’s very approachable, and the 20 practice pages mean I don't have to worry about running out to buy separate sketch paper right away. This kit offers great value for anyone just starting out. It provides everything you need—the guidance, the tools, and the practice space—in one box. The appearance of the finished drawings I’ve been able to create, while obviously not professional, is encouraging. It’s an excellent way for beginners to get a taste of anime drawing without having to buy a whole range of expensive supplies first.

My Daughter Enjoyed It
The price at the time of review was $19.95. The instruction pages are a thick glossy type and it contains detailed and clear instructions on how to draw. It has an elastic strap which is used to hold the book shut when it's not in use which is nice since it also holds the pencils in place so they don't fall out and go everywhere. The drawing pages are what you would expect from sketch paper and offers a nice space for "proving your work". It's dual language (English and Spanish) and I find the dual language "feature" to be distracting. Fortunately, my daughter loves it and doesn't care about the dual language. The colored pencils are classy looking with a black casing and triangular design so that they don't roll if they are lying on a table. It also comes with a pink mechanical pencil that has a very fine point for sketching and easy erasing. Overall, this is a good starter instruction guide and starter kit for a girl wanting to draw chibi. I think it'll continue to hold value even after the sketch pages are used up and my daughter fully learns how to draw. Why 4/5 stars? Well, these sorts of kits are mostly priced by the pencils and sketch paper not by the instructions since anyone can go online and get easy instructions on how to sketch for free. Looking at it from that perspective, for $20 it's not a great value and the dual language makes those instructions distracting. I would have given it 5/5 stars if it was single language (with a QR code for additional languages online) and if the price was $15.

Great set
This is such a great set to learn to draw, both my kids are into Anime and Manga right now and they both love to draw so this was perfect for them. The step-by-step instructions are easy to follow, and this is a great confidence builder because it breaks it down and makes this style of art accessible.

Very satisfied
More than anything, this is a very low cost set of Faber-Castell pencils, which are good quality. I thought these were going to be something else, but I do like the instructions for chibi style characters. If you're just getting in to this style of art, this isn't a bad place to start, and the pencils are well worth it.

Awkward In Practice.
PROS: All in one set: Instructions, Drawing Implements and Sketch Paper. Quality Pencils. Good (though basic) instructions on Chibi drawing. CONS: Top spiral binding requires constant flipping to read the front and back of pages. Dual language (English and French) necessitates constantly ignoring whichever language is foreign to you. The sketch pages are in the back of the book. You can sketch or view instructions but you can't do both simultaneously. You'd be better off with a separate pad that you could work on alongside this book. BOTTOM LINE: While I like the premise, I really don't like how this product is arranged. It feels awkward in practice - something worth considering depending on intended recipient.

A very cute gift
Faber-Castell kits are always so fun. The cover boards of this Anime Drawing Kit are both sturdy, more than adequate to protect the work inside. The beginning pages offer tips for drawing chibi characters (miniaturized, childlike versions of larger characters), and then there is a large amount of blank pages perfect to practice on. Usually the practice is expected to be done in another sketchbook, and it is nice to have it all together here. The pencils are nice quality, not the best but far from bad, and there is everything a person could need to practice!

Great for beginners
The Faber-Castell Anime Drawing Kit: Chibi Edition is a really fun and creative set for kids, beginners, or anyone who loves anime-style art. The instruction book is easy to follow and does a great job breaking down how to draw chibi characters step by step. The 20 practice pages are a nice touch, and the included colored pencils and drawing supplies are good quality, as you’d expect from Faber-Castell. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the set could include a few more drawing tools—like extra sketching pencils or a fine liner for outlining. Still, it’s a wonderful starter kit that makes learning to draw chibi characters fun and approachable. Perfect gift for young artists or anime fans!

So FUN!
My daughter is obsessed with this set and has attempted to "chibi-fy" everyone in our house through portraiture. This book is very comprehensive and easy to read and has great lessons on proportion and styling. The notepad itself is sturdy and the included pencils are great quality. I've always been a Prismacolor kind of girl, but these are very good as well. I'm not an expert by any means, but I did take a few art classes in high school and college, so it's a hobby for me that I'm happy to share with my daughter. This set is age appropriate for her and has content that she can relate to. We're very pleased with both the design and quality.
