Good for Onewheel rides
I purchased two of these along with a few other brands. What I like about these impact shorts in particular is the amount of coverage, the quality of the padding, and the fit. In comparison to the other two brands I tried, this pair makes me feel the most safe. They are not overly bulky which I greatly appreciate. When wearing then they do feel a bit odd with the bulk they add but without the amount of padding they would not be as effective. The padding feels dense and thick, with a hard outer layer that provides just enough flexibility for my needs. With the tailbone padding, I don’t feel it very much at all when standing but when sitting they feel comfortable and not in the way of my manly bits. The material the shorts, not the padding, is a webbed material that gives enough stretch. It’s breathable and the elastic on the thighs keep them in place without moving, very much appreciated. However, the material does feel a little weak and I take caution when putting them on. That caution is gone when worn. They have a drawstring tie that I think is much too short but they get the job done. I tied knots a bit bellow the end so that they don’t recede into the thread. Not my favorite part of the shorts but they get the job done. Since purchasing them I have fallen several times and have remained injury free with relatively painless falls. Rolling when falling will help mitigate the impact of the fall and the shorts feel conducive for rolling. A brand I tried was Bodyprox. They have more coverage with thicker padding at a cheaper price. However, they were not comfortable to me and very discouraging to wear because of that. It won’t do any good to me if I never wear them. Also, I thought they looked odd underneath pants and I felt as though I had to be selective with what I wore to keep comfort in mind. Also, I thought they looked odd when wearing them. Another brand I tried was the Benken which I thought were very comfortable. They had a zipper and Velcro at the waist which insured a proper and comfortable fit without struggling to put them on or being careful of the fabric. I chose the Hillbilly over the Benken because they were laking in the thigh padding

these things work great!
Awesome pads for snowboarding. I started learning corks, so I was crashing a lot. These pads took most of the shock out of hard landings on my butt and tailbone. At the end of the day (and a few days after) my muscles were sore, which is expected after a full day of crashes. But without them, there'd probably be bruises. These things gave me to confidence that I wouldn't get hurt learning new tricks. They do fill up your pants though. I had to loosen mine all the way. Before they arrived, I was scared that I would need to order bigger pants, which I didn't want to do because I'd only had them for one season. But they fit, and it keeps my pants up. No more belt. I do wish the hard tailbone piece was bigger, though. It tapers off towards the end. If it were wider at the bottom it might spread the impact force better, but it's ok. All of the pads on the sides are way thick, perfect for the hard pack in the park. the tailbone pad isn't quite as thick as the rest of the pads but it does an ok job. Way better than not having any pads on!

Comparison of Hillbilly shorts to two other brands
This is a comparison review, as I bought three different padded shorts (the three I could get on Prime) to see which I liked best. TL;DR: Hillbilly was too bulky and expensive. The Docooler shorts won. Full review: I'm a 34" waist, and I was looking for something for skiing in terrain parks. This means my priority was butt, tailbone, and hip padding. Thigh padding was not a concern. Here are the three different pairs of shorts: Hillbilly Impact Shorts; size small, price $65.22 Pros: Very thick pads and most thorough coverage Cons: Hard plastic over tailbone is not a good design choice; fabric does not stretch much; expensive; padding may be too bulky and restrict mobility; string-tie waistband feels too bulky to be wearing under other layers Fit: Again, I'm a 34" waist. I followed the reviews and got a small. It's too tight, especially on my thighs. I should have gotten a medium. Docooler padded short (this product): Size XXXL; cost $14.98 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NITSOBW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 Overall: Top choice Pros: Perfect pad coverage of hips and backside. Good mobility. Fabric is nice and stretchy; super cheap Cons: Pads might be a little thin for really hard impacts; velcro closure might not last Fit: I'm a 34" waist and, after reading the reviews, got the XXXL. It fit perfectly. Shock Doctor ShockSkin Impact Shorts; size large; $49.37 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4OKYH4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01 Pros: Best looking shorts by far (edgy orange and grey design); comfortable; fabric feels higher quality than others Cons: No pad coverage on butt at all; other pads are thin Size: This is the one brand without ridiculous sizing. A large fit me perfectly All three had individual qualities I liked, such as HillBilly's extra thick padding or Shock Doctor's attractive design. If you just want maximum protection, you can consider the Hillbilly (again, I don't like the hard plastic over their tailbone pad). But if you're looking for both good pad coverage and a good price, Docooler wins. Just be sure to get the right size. I doubt the XXXL would fit even a 36" waist, as the velcro might pop open.

Good protection
A little abrasive and bulky feeling but not to bad. Pads are nice and thick and in all the right places ( would've liked some inner thigh protection but not to much of a set back) Mesh body so keeps you cool as long as your clikkin. Biggest seller for me was the tailbone cap.

Not for snowboarding due to tailbone nonprotection
They do NOT protect my tailbone when I fell from snowboarding. I got bruises around the tailbone and a little bit on the hips. Maybe they are good protecting the sides but if you are going snowboarding, just don’t buy this product.

34 waist is Small size for sure
I am 6 foot 2 tall. I weigh 180 pounds, and my waist is 34. My legs are fairly slender.... The Small size fits me great. I would NOT go Medium if you are 34 waist. Unless you have crazy muscle thighs, I'd say stick to the small. I inline skate with them for only one day and didn't end up crashing in them, but they seem like they will totally help. I feel a lot more confident and daring since I know my hips are protected (even did a gnarley stair ride today ) I highly recommend these crash shorts. They look hella cool !

Good deal
Seem great based on trying them on. I'm a 34" waist and got the small (and I wouldn't have wanted the shorts any bigger that's for sure). Quality for the price is good for sure, draw string waist a nice touch to keep them up.

Great deal, half price
Great deal, half price, padding is thick and the fit is comfortable. I have not fallen on my hips or rear end yet to give that perspective, hopefully I never will. I would highly recommend these padded shorts fall all sports, mine is skateboarding, but come this winter, I will be wearing them for snowboarding and skiing.

Not the best for tailbone protection
Bought this to protect my tailbone while snowboarding. The material is light and build quality is solid. The mesh base is a nice touch and is much welcomed for ease of movement and ventilation. The sizing however appears to be inaccurate. I'm 5ft9 and normally between wear 31-32'' waist size, so I purchased the small (29-34'' based on sizing guideline). I was expecting to find some wiggle room but was surprised at how tightly, almost restricting, it fit. Perhaps as a result of the small size, the hard shell tailbone protector sat way too high for it to shield my tailbone adequately during a fall. I wore this to the local resort this past weekend and took several light falls on my butt and did not find the protector to be particularly effective at absorbing the shock. This was mainly because the bulk of the protector was covering my lower back, leaving only a small piece covering the tailbone, which, after all is said and done, did not do much. I am hesitant to wear it to the terrain park and will most likely do some modification to the tailbone protector or seek out another pair of impact shorts instead. The remaining pads, on the other hand, performed superbly. The hip pads are made of high density foams and absorbed the impact beautifully. Pros: Good build quality Lightweight Excellent hip pads Comfortable mesh base Cons: Sizing guideline is off (too small!) Tailbone protector does not provide enough coverage

Good protection of the shorts. SLOW shipping from Amazon though
It took them 1 month just to ship these shorts which is not acceptable, especially considering the fact it's winter and these are for snowboarding with the heat of the season. Shorts are great though. Good protection. Would recommend these to others
