LOVE LOVE LOVE this cube
LOVE LOVE LOVE this cube! We have a 9 month old daughter and got this when she was 7 months old. She has always loved it and plays with it daily. We feel like we'll get TONS of use out of this as she has yet to really use some of it's intended features. Right now she likes banging the little wooden toys around on it and moving the beads; we expect she'll start using the shape sorter and other parts in the next year, so it feels like a purchase that will cover multiple years for her. We've had friends' kids over and an 18 month old and 2 year old were both entertained by it as well. It's sturdy enough that our daughter can pull herself up on it, but on carpet it can slide around a little when she gets excited and pushes on it with all her weight (even though she's a total lightweight). We bought a cheap nonslip rug mat from Target and cut off a square of it to put under the block so it doesn't slide around. We have found ourselves saying repeatedly that this is one of our best baby purchases yet.

Favorite Christmas gift for 10 month old
This was my girl's favorite Christmas present. She still goes for it first. It's great quality and so much for her to fiddle and manipulate. I was actually surprised to see her operate some it by herself. My only wish was the mallet was rubber tipped but we don't play with it much yet so it's not a big deal.

Spectacular first Christmas gift
This activity cube is awesome! Due to the lack of reviews and lower price than other Hape activity centers on amazon, I was temporarily worried that we accidentally bought some sort of knockoff, but this appears to be the real deal! My son was 6 months old at Christmas and we were torn between buying it then, or holding off for a first birthday present. I'm so glad we bought it when we did! We've gone from having him laugh with delight watching us put the butterflies down the slide to doing it himself (and trying to put everything else in the house down there as well!), and he's used the cube as he's progressed from shaky sitting all the way to pulling to stand unsupported. This isn't quite as heavy as some others on the market, and did pull over on him once, but supervised it has been great for his development. Every night when my husband comes home he and my son head straight for "the cube" and play there while I make dinner, and then again until bedtime. Worth every penny!

Screws didn't line up well or go in flush when securing the top, otherwise construction appears solid. I kept a couple of the smaller pieces away in case my 7 month old tries to eat them but he really enjoys this toy. It also appears sturdy enough for him to pull himself up on. What I love most about this is that I got it to encourage him to play sitting up, well 10 minutes after I let him play with it he went from lying down to sitting up on his own for the first time--yes!!
