I use colored tissue to save on weight because then you don't have to paint
As usual great kit that was simple to build. This was my 4th kit in 2 months. I like it so much I just got another one that I'm going to build to fly because there is a big difference in building one for display and building one to fly

Fun first build.
71 years old and I had never built a balsa and tissue plane. As my first this was simple and fun. The directions could have been less of a treasure hunt but overall I enjoyed it. It hangs in my grandson's bedroom now

You really have to be a balsa kit enthusiast to appreciate this kit
I bought it for nostalgia purposes. After opening it up, they streamlined the kit eliminating the fly by wire control and a few other non essentials for the 21st century. The price was also a driving factor in buying. The construction of the Zeke is simple as with all of the “small” Guillow kits but the plane can and will look like the box.

History Lesson
I built this while waiting for my factory ordered Subaru to arrive. It took 5 months but I got exactly what I wanted, a 2023 Impreza with a 5 spd manual (to be discontinued after this year). This plane model now sits on the Salesman's desk. Nice guy! Anyway, Nakajima Aircraft Company (Japan's oldest) built this plane and a myriad of others, the motors that went into the Mitsubishi Zero, and was ultimately bombed and disbanded into smaller engineering and production units at the end of WW2. These companies later reformed these fragmented parts into Fuji Heavy Industries which was later renamed; you guessed it, SUBARU.

A decent project kit
I used this kit as the basis to build an A6M(5?) Zero model for a film project. (I left the pontoons off of it, but added one of the smaller ones to the center to double as a “drop tank) This is the first ever balsa and tissue kit I’ve ever built. This is probably a decent kit for beginners. The finished model is a decent scale. I was happy with the end results.
