What A Difference.
To be honest, I couldn't make my mind up whether to 'take the plunge' and purchase this controller because the one supplied with the LGB starter set was doing the job, albeit with very limited speed adjustment. However, after checking the technical data and seeing the price on the Gaugemaster website it became a no brainer and I am pleased that I did. Whereas the LGB controller has very limited adjustment between slow and top speed, this controller gives a smooth transition from a crawl to top speed. And what a top speed. I don't think my poor little Stainz locomotive knew what had hit it. Previously the top speed was a very slow walking pace but now it became sprint and one of the carriages was actually flung off the track on a shallow (R5) curve. So, if you are on the fence and can't make your mind up I strongly advise you to 'go for it'. You'll be amazed at the difference - I certainly was.

Powers any of my g scale locomotives.
The 1 amp controller that came with a g scale starter set was fine for most of my locomotives. However, I have two or three loco's that struggled or in one case wouldn't budge at all using a basic controller. So I purchased from Amazon the Gaugemaster controller which has 2.5amps of power. Problem sorted ! Now I have enough power for any engine. Please note my layout is based in a large indoor room , if you are considering a huge spralling garden layout then I would suggest you take a look at their 5amp option.

Brilliant
A very solidly made in the UK controller, with robust metal casing & incorporating a traditionally coil wound transformer. The speed control is very precise & gives an excellent range of speed for your locomotives. An excellent upgrade over speed controllers supplied with basic starter sets. Also this is the cheapest price I’ve seen on the internet. Comes fitted with a 13A UK plug. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic controller
I brought this controller to run heljan o gauge diesels and it copes very well with class 37,25,35 diesels.

not working properly
Controller didn't work properly. Couldn't change the speed, just kept working on a very slow speed.
