What am I reviewing? I am reviewing Colorations Regular Crayons – 24 Packs, 8 Colors. Why did I select these. Just as the listing noted as a possible use, I selected these individual boxes to include as party favors, as the venue these will be used at bans sweets and snacks. How was this presented? The crayons arrived in a generic looking, non-retail, rectangular, brown cardboard package. Other than for a UPC sticker, the only other thing on this package was the clear tape used to seal it. Very uninspiring and would not make an impressive presentation if I were to give the package. Measurements? The above package measured about 6” x 6” x 8½”. What’s the weight? Just over five (5) pounds. What’s inside? The (24) individual boxes of crayons of course. Measurements? Each individual eight (8) pack box of crayons measures about 3½” x 5” x 0.4375”. Weight? Each box of crayons weighs about (90) grams, which is about (3.2) ounces. Number of crayons per box? Eight (8). Colors? The colors did “not” match the listing; the 8 classic colors listed were: black, blue, brown, green, orange, red, violet and yellow. However, there is no violet, but there is “purple.” Each color is written on the wrapper of the crayon. Size of crayons? Each crayon is “about” 3¾” long, that’s less than the 4” noted in the listing, and average crayon is about 1/8th of an inch shorter. I found the diameter to be 0.4330”, which was less than the 0.4375 noted in the listing. An average crayon is about 0.300” inches in diameter. So, these are larger than normal, and the barrel size is the most obvious. Are these marketed as washable? No. Coverage? They provided excellent coverage; and therein lies the problem if washing these off. Country of origin? Made in China. Certifications? Conforms to ASTM D-4236. What is ASTM D-4236? Best for the reader to do their own research, but ASTM D-4236 is the standard practice of labeling art materials for chronic health hazards. The designation “conforms to ASTM D-4236” means all the potentially hazardous components of the art product have been clearly labeled on the product packaging. Are these made from beeswax? Unknown Do these have food grade colorings? Unknown What are these made from? Unknown, that’s a negative. Fit and finish Some of the crayons had broken tops. That’s a negative. Value I found okay value with these, as I think these are premium priced, even after factoring size and especially number of crayons, and coverage. Life of crayon I think these can last similarly to others; they are not that soft. Giftable? Yes, it’s a nice individual package to present. Travel ready? Yes, but I think this for occasional use, not constant. Is this perfect? No, but they are capable. Age restrictions? Yes, they should be given to those appropriate of age. Precautions? Yes, avoid allowing children to mart clothing and hard surfaces and make sure they do not eat these. Rating? I think these four (4) star at best, considering all factors noted above and I do not like seeing the claims made in the listing not being corroborated on the packaging. I hope my thoughts added information.
