Alice in Wonderland
Several years into my Eaglemoss addiction now, my specialty niche is collecting smaller ships which were only on one episode, (usually because they were destroyed.) So I was stoked to see "Alice" from the Voyager franchise in the Eaglemoss lineup. Just like Tom Paris, I really like ships with an elegant design; and Alice fits the category almost perfectly...except for the antique air conditioner protruding from the nose of the shuttle. What's that about? The accompanying magazine (page 10) shows Tim Earls 1999 sketch drawing of Alice which appears to show antennas and a round emitter adorning the ships nose; so, what happened? The big square box protruding from the snout of a beautifully designed airflow, streamlined ship looks like a Borg wart! I simply don't understand the thinking process that gave us this model. It even looks ridiculous on screen. On the facing page is a shot of the same model, modified for a different episode, without the nose wart. Either leave the nose natural, or at least have something logical protruding from it...anything but an antique Frigidaire! Gimme a break!
