Perfect starter set for my sons' new kitchen!!
My 3 year old son loves watching my cooking shows with me and helping us fix meals in the kitchen so we decided to get him his own kitchen set. Upon learning how expensive kitchen accessories I opted to look for a set that had a little bit of everything to begin with. I was not disappointed! This set comes with meat, vegetables, pasta, fruit, milk, bread, even a basket to hold it all!! When you first open the basket there is cardboard in the bottom half so it's a tiny bit deceiving however I actually prefer it this way since it leaves me with extra room in the basket for the pan set I bought or any additional food I decide to get. And it's not like they shorted me items, I got what was advertised plus extra basket space. The Learning Resources brand boasts that their products are pliable and not made of super hard fake plastic, however the only flexible pieces are the sauce and carrot sticks. The chicken has a little give but the spaghetti, beans, peas, potato apple slices and bread are not pliable at all. Being that this is the first set we've bought, I don't mind at all because my child does not yet know the difference and the detail in the food makes up for the plastic feel. I just thought it was worth a mention since everyone seems disappointed in the quality compared to their other offerings. I love that the sauce is separate since it gives my son a chance to be creative in the ways he makes the pasta. Sometimes he likes chicken and peas in his pasta, you know? I think his favorite item is the apple slices and he loves making "apple juice" with them. It's a shame that the cup of milk is just a solid chunk of white plastic. I don't mind that it doesn't come out but it would have been nice to have an encased liquid that sloshed about when tipped. I also wish the carrot sticks were a little stiffer but other than that this set is pretty much perfect. I'd like to address something regarding the sauce. I've seen numerous complaints about it looking like vomit. The sauce is BRIGHT red. If your children are puking bright red, you may want to consult a physician. My husband and I both think it looks like meat sauce and meatballs personally. And he is colorblind. Long story short, I plan on purchasing many more of the Learning Resources sets and even have my next one in mind!!

Excellent play food!
My daughters are 5, 3 1/2, and 15 months old, so we have bought and played with a lot of play food over the years, including Melissa & Doug's wooden food. I am so glad I got this dinner basket for them- it is our favorite play food we have! The food is realistic looking, but made from good quality plastic that holds up well having three little girls pretending to cook it, serving it, and pretending to eat it (and two out my three tend to be really rough on toys). When the package first arrived, I surprised my girls with the baskets (lunch and dinner) and they immediately started playing with them. None of it is too small for my 15 month old to enjoy playing with as well. I also bought the lunch basket, and will be ordering the breakfast basket after writing these 2 reviews. Excellent product, good price, we are very pleased with this and can't recommend it enough!

Great Healthy Dinner
This set contains spaghetti noodles, sauce with meatballs, grilled chicken breast, beans, peas, potato, 5 carrot sticks, 4 apple slices, glass of milk, French bread slice, and basket. Cons: can't take "milk" out of glass Pros: all of the food is realistic, the apple slices add up to half of an apple Learning Resources food is somewhat bendable. The sauce and carrot sticks can give quite a bit, giving it a more realistic feel. Great set! By the way, I contacted Learning Resources about the safety of their plastic and this is their response. "We take safety very seriously and all of our products meet or exceed safety standards. I am writing to assure you that all our product meets Learning Resources high standards for toy safety. They do NOT contain phthalates or lead and are made of PVC and low density polyethylene. They do not contain BPA and is made with PVC plastics. We take safety very for all of our children's products and toys are evaluated against the standards set forth by the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). This includes testing for certain phthalates (a plasticizer used to make plastic soft), lead in paint, lead in substrate and compliance with the testing guidelines set forth by ASTM F-963."

Love These Foods!
I bought this basket of Learning Resources play food for my three year old granddaughter for Christmas. I wanted to add ingredients for creative activities in her play kitchen. This set has a basket full of realistic pieces, from apple slices to a serving of peas, to a glass of milk, to a heaping helping of spaghetti with meatballs. This is not my first Learning Resources purchase and it will not likely be my last. The quality of their products is simply incredible. These are not the same foods you find hanging in plastic bags from hooks in the big stores. These food items are not only durable but also the most realistic of any I have ever seen. The shopping basket looks as though it will survive years of toddler shopping trips for both my granddaughter and her little brother. I highly recommend any Learning Resources food products. I have never been disappointed. And they didn't pay me to say that!

Great quality
I cannot say enough good things about these Learning Resources play food sets. I like the quality of their plastic, they are easy to clean, they do not get bent easily like with other playfood sets that end up all dented in places. This seems to be an older version of the LR play food with basket sets, which I like the basket better in this one since it is bigger than the newer version one. I would have liked that it came with at least one plate, but the price is not bad for the pieces you are getting. The meatballs and sauce piece is separate from the spaghetti, I liked that and it seems realistic, although the sauce part is thinner plastic. I would like seeing more sets like this from LR with dinners like this one, and with the baked potatoes instead of a whole potato like at the grocery store. Overall great quality, love the LR play food sets.

Fantastic quality play food
I don't usually write reviews but this play food is so good I thought I would. The quality is second to none, it's very realistic which I feel is very important. The materials used are also great, some foods are solid and some are squishy but all very hard wearing. My little one uses this food in the play kitchen aswel as the elc bag for life food. I have and will continue to recommend this play food, it is a little more expensive than other play foods available but it is worth it for the quality and how realistic and durable it is.

Correcto. Unos alimentos están más logrados que otros. El vaso de leche por ejemplo es muy chulo. La cesta ayuda a tener todo ordenado
