A slightly smaller book nook
This is the second book nook I've built and I have to say that it was a bit smaller and simpler than the other. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I think it will be create for a gift to someone you're unsure would be willing to build a large, more complicated one - or it that describes you. I picked up the little coffee shop and it really does look delightful when built. You have a nice little seating area outside the coffee shop and then an array of drinks and foods inside it. Building it is quite simple, but it does require time and delicacy. The little pieces are very small, and require popping out of wooden boards. You then take them and glue them into little slots. If you are not careful, you can snap things or glue them in the wrong place, but if you take your time it's this delicate nature and tininess that makes them look so incredible once built.

Quite sweet, but on the basic side as these kits go; some of the instructions seem badly ordered
This little DIY cafe kit is one of the easier and less customisable kits of this type I have encountered. It's quite quick to build compared to some - not only because it's a smaller kit with fewer pieces, but also because the pieces are pre-printed rather than plain wood where paper/fabric coverings are attached so it takes a lot less time to put together. Most of the pieces simply push fit together with fairly snug joints, although a few elements require glue that isn't included. The majority of the pieces are made from MDF, though there is also one sheet of printed clear plastic components. These have a protective film backing sheet still attached and it's quite fiddly to remove - especially if, like me, you have irritatingly weak and bendy fingernails. I have in a few smaller places opted to leave the film in place (e.g. on a couple of shelves) as I quite liked the fact that it gives the impression of frosted glass and adds a different element of texturing. The MDF components are generally easy to push out from their backing, although as this is thicker than versions made of ply some of the smaller pieces are quite fiddly and need a bit of help - I have found a chopstick to be quite useful here. Most of the push together joints for the MDF are secure enough without any glue. I did find a couple quite hard to push together - but pinched the little wooden hammer from a kids’ toolbox set and that taps things nicely into place without being too forceful. I have found myself disagreeing with the instructions in a few places. For example some of the earliest steps involve slotting pieces into a counter top, but only building the unit afterwards. It is much easier to do this by building the counter first (so you can apply the needed pressure to slot it into place without knocking little bits out) and then adding the accessories. So after this, I have found myself reading ahead and changing instructions around where I suspect they're doing things the hard way. This comes with a battery box (for AA batteries, not included) and LED light strip. £23.99 seems a bit on the high side for the (lack of) size and complexity to this kit, and the fact it doesn't include any adhesive.
