I knew our Little Girl would like this, I didn't realize she would LOVE it the way she does. But then again, it combines three of her favorite things: plushies, unicorns, and art. With the fortune-telling horn being a fun little bonus. But there's one thing you also should get, whether you're ordering this for your own child or gifting it to someone. More on that in just a moment.... One thing that I would suggest: lay down some newspaper or junk mail promotional ads wherever you plan on doing the airbrushing. The marker ink is washable, but just the same, why get overspray on your dining room table if you can avoid it? And you will get some overspray here and there. Setting it up is super easy. Push the marker in the sprayer, but just make sure that you have it inserted all the way. Then do a quick test spray on the newspaper or whatever other scratch paper you have sitting around. You'll also want to do a quick spray whenever you change colors, to avoid blending them by accident. I don't know how they figured out how to turn a marker into something sprayable, but it absolutely works - and works well. Our daughter went through the different sticker stencils to figure out how she wanted to add little designs. The stickers are set up so that you can either spray within the cutout of a stencil, to add a shape (or stripes, etc). Or you can place a solid sticker on the unicorn, then spray around it. So that when you peel the sticker off, there's a white shape in the fur, with some color around the shape. The only thing that we found a little tricky was what to do with the stickers once we removed them from the unicorn. They get marker ink on them, which you'll get on your fingers (our daughter just didn't want to wear the gloves). That's not a big deal. But it's where to put the stickers when you finish with each one. It's slightly difficult to get them perfectly in place on the sticker sheets where they were before. I think the toy maker should maybe include a blank sticker sheet (like wax paper) that allows you to place used stickers, but they peel back off smoothly when you want to use them again. The whole process was really fun for our Daughter. She even let us add a bit of our own art to the unicorn. When we set the unicorn aside to dry, she had fun playing with the fortune-telling horn. You just ask a question, push down on the horn, and final color that lights up gives you an answer (based on a little instruction sheet that comes with the set). After a few tries, our Daughter remembered what all of the colors meant, without having to go back and look at the cheat sheet. One thing I didn't expect, but was perfectly okay obviously, was that our Little Girl would decide to just remove the horn completely. So while the unicorn was drying, she was able to just play with the horn and ask questions. Or she would have one of us ask a question, and get an answer. This was actually a good idea for them to include this. Because it gives your kid something to do and play with while the unicorn is drying, since they can't play with it or hold it during that time. WHAT YOU ALSO NEED TO GET WHEN BUYING: There's one thing that you will absolutely need to use the sprayer, and it's not included with the set. That is two AA batteries. So unless you already have some new ones sitting around, and don't feel like stealing them from a remote or other gadget in your home (or running to the store), go ahead and order some batteries along with this toy. If you're gifting someone, it would be thoughtful if you also order a little two or four pack of AA batteries to go along with it. That way you're not putting someone in a position where they have to go the store to buy batteries if they don't have any on hand. Once your kid sees the unicorn, they'll want to start styling it immediately. So you want those batteries on hand. This was a really fun toy. Just a fantastic way for your kid to "unplug" from the electronics for a while. Turn off the TV, the tablet, the phone, the games, etc. And just allow them to be creative. My Wife and I will definitely be ordering more of these to gift to some of our relatives when the holidays roll around. It's easily one of the more unique and fun toys that your child will get to use.
