Good purchase
Purchased the engine for grand children. Also purchased a green engine. This one has more power and laps the green one.

Great train! Even for 2 year old!
This train met all of our expectations. The battery has lasted longer than expected (especially with our son who forgets to turn it off!) The train can also pull 2-3 cars behind it, even up hills! My son loves the light on the front - especially as it goes through the tunnels. It also goes forward and backward (and for some reason our kids like to see it "pushing" the train cars- they find this very funny!) The only downside I can think of is the on/off switch is difficult for a 2 year old to use. To turn it off, you have to get the lever exactly in the middle, or else it switches to forward motion, or backward. This isn't an issue for us, because although the train isn't loud by any means, we can hear when it is still running from the next room, so we know if we have to turn it off for him.

Great Addition to IKEA set!!
I was trying to find a motorized train to go with my kids existing IKEA Lillabo train set without having to spend a fortune on an entirely new set. This Brio engine works perfectly! It’s a bit slow, but it has some oomph to it. Pulls a few ikea pieces behind it without much issue. Great addition to our existing set and plan to buy more. My kids are thrilled! My only issue, and it’s a minor one, is that I wish it had another speed setting. Overall A+++!

Only one AAA battery
This is the little engine that could. Runs slowly but lasts an hour or more on one battery. Very quiet running.

Do not purchase
This product doesn’t work. Headlights don’t light up and the motor runs very slowly and then shuts down. It says to contact Brio for support but Brio won’t help because this is a seller who isn’t authorized to sell Brio merchandise. Don’t waste your money.

It is perfect for my 2-year-old
This is one expensive train! But it does work well with all the wooden railroad tracks (Ikea and other random brands). It is a slow moving train but who wants a train darting around? It is perfect for my 2-year-old. It can carry with it several other trains but can't take them up hills. It can take 2 trains with it up a hill.

Battery powered train engine.
This was a fun gift. As with anything battery powered for kids it lasted two days. It did have the power to pull the train cars over the ramps! Perfect for a 4 year old in love with trains.

Genuine BRIO for wooden tracks
Ordered for my grandson's wooden train track set when I discovered he didn't have a battery powered engine. He was over the moon with the little red and yellow engine when it arrived. Takes one AAA battery by removing single philips screw located inside the exhaust stack. Engine has decent power to pull several cars around the track and even has a small led lamp on the front. I would prefer the manufacturer put the tiny forward-off-reverse on the bottom of these units so that young engineers resist the urge to push down upon the engine and bend the axles but a little coaching with how to handle the toy will ensure longevity. All in all. Pretty great toy for the price

Cute and compatible with IKEA track
Cute little engine bought as an experiment. Yes, it is compatible with IKEA track but is not as fast as the little IKEA battery engine.

Le encanta a mi hijo
Esta locomotora de BRIO es genial! tiene luz y puedes elegir si quieres que vaya hacia adelante o atras. Se ve de buena construcción y robusta. Solo lleva una pila de las pequeñas, evidentemente no es muy rapida, es una locomotora que va sobre vias de madera y enfocada para niños pequeños.
