The manual rates this brushed model at 35 km/h (the brushless variant is listed at 55 km/h). Based on my test run in the attached video, speed felt close to the claim, fun and lively, though not “wow” fast if you’re already into RC. For younger users and first-timers, it’s a great fit; for adults who want more punch, I’d opt for the brushless model. Kayakers around me seemed impressed regardless so I expect kids to be very happy with this. Setup is simple and straightforward: charge a pack, install it under the dual hatches, set the boat in the water, then power the radio. The motor/prop is water-activated for safety, but don’t rely on that exclusively. In one instance, after lifting the boat out of water, the prop spun for a couple of seconds while water drained from the intake hose, so keep fingers clear and warn kids about this. No fingers around the propellers, ever! Plenty of range for the radio controller; I never hit the edge-of-range warning the manual mentions. The function button provides three distinct functionalities; single-press runs an auto demonstration, double-press self-rights in case if the boat is capsized (but I couldn’t flip it in hard turns even when I tried to do so intentionally. The hull seems to be very stable), and triple-press toggles the LEDs on or off. Functionality button is disabled when the boat is in low power mode. When voltage gets low, the boat pauses once and then limps at reduced speed so you can bring it back instead of swimming for it. I still expected a way to see battery voltage but that's not a standard feature in this price range anyway. Runtime was better than I expected (my baseline is FPV drones that fly ~2 minutes), but I’d still grab extra packs. the included USB charger takes ~3 hours to charge one single pack. In order to charge both batteries it takes about 6 hours in total. So charging requires some planning in advance. Pros • Ready to play bundle (2 packs, spare prop, stand, bow bumper and required tools to replace the spare parts) • Stable hull; self-righting on command • Low-voltage “limp home” behavior and water-activation safety • Simple setup; LED controls; demo mode Cons • Speed/throttle hit is modest for experienced hobbyists but it's still peppy. • USB charger is relatively slow • Water-activation interlock isn’t instantaneous, use caution and don't rely on it for safety solely. Looking at other offerings on Amazon, it's a good value for the money and would be an amazing gift option!
