Its good!
I wasnt expecting to be this impressed with this little engine. But I was pleasantly surprised! While it's not the most detailed, it looks pretty good on the layout and runs surprisingly well. It's much smoother and more consistent than the Bachmann 2-6-2 that I have. I do think, however, that I will add a bit of weight above the drivers, as it has some wheel slip when pulling more than about 6 cars. Being a small switcher, that really isn't that big of a deal, but it might improve the pulling power a bit. But other than that, i really like this loco! Since i bought this undecorated, it now bears the #45 on the GM&O!

Least Expensive Replacement
Had the Spirit of Christmas engine die in the fifth season of operation, so I replaced it with this one. The engine itself seems a bit more robust than the original. Works like a champ. One star off because anything associated with this "hobby" is enormously overpriced.

Great, cheap little steam loco.
I ordered this on a whim because we don’t have “cheap” N scale locos over here in the UK and when it arrived today I was pleasantly surprised. It’s obviously not as “pretty”or “accurate” as the locos you get over here but they cost 2-3x as much. The good: Cheap Runs extremely well after some fiddling - lubrication and adjusting the tender pickups so that they work. Looks very neat and is the mould is pretty detailed. Comes with Arnold-style “Rapido” couplers in addition to Bachmann’s standard ones. The bad: Switching the couplers was way, way too fiddly. I’ve done this on Japanese trains before and it was easy. Doing it here involved the smallest screws I’ve ever seen and eventually disassembling the tender. Lots of externally visable screws. Overall though, as an entry level locomotive it’s really great, and something UK train manufacturers should copy.

NO LED headlight as described in the description.
Train runs great but there is no LED headlight as described in the description which was one feature that set it apart from others and was why I bought this. Description should be updated to not mislead others.
